"It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone." Rose Kennedy.

Bill drove to work after the long morning. His dark blonde hair was carelessly gelled back, he wore the tiredness under his eyes shamelessly, he was only 25 but he was already a detective.

He was good at his job although he worked in the most disrespected station in all of England he still found pride in it.

Bill and his brother Tom both worked in the same station, although they never worked a case together; they were twin brothers and always shared some treats, like the way that people around town knew how they handled themselves; throwing punches and asking questions later. He was known for being a tough guy, most of London feared him and his brother.

After stepping out of the car he walked inside the station and into the meeting room - late -. The supervisor and captain give a dirty look, his supervisor was a new guy and reason for that day's extraordinary meeting; his name was Georg Listing, he had been transferred to help the department stop the rumours of violence but Bill couldn't care less, he threw a punch and he solved a case: that was just the Kaulitz' way; Tom turned to his brother for a brief moment with a smirk on his face.

"Always on time." The captain was talking but Tom couldn't help commenting on his identical twin, Bill's punctuality.

Among the things that made the two men so different was the fact that Bill was never good at getting anywhere on time, he'd always appear to be early or late but never right on time.

"Fuck off." He replied to his brother, but there was still a smile on his face.

"Georg Listing, so we have another welsh man in the department."

"But he's a fagott!" Someone in the back yelled.

Tom and Bill looked at each other bored and unamused, whatever the new guy did or didn't do wasn't their business as long as it didn't directly affect them.

"He is your superior now, so suck it up!" Captain Schäfer said to the man who complained.

Everyone got up and out of the meeting room to get down to work. Bill and Tom shared a pitiful look as Georg looked around in frustration.

"I haven't once heard a good thing about him." Tom said to his brother and sat down in his little work station a few feet away from his brother.

Bill - rarely Billy and never mate - took seat as well and started reading an unfinished report on his desk. He didn't like the paperwork, but ge went through it anyway.

After finishing his shift, Bill drove home, he lived in a large apartments building. When he got there and stepped on the elevator, a girl - who looked no more than seventeen - ran into the building, he held the door open and she breathlessly stepped into it.

"Thanks" she said and looked up at him.

They waited in silence, the girl hadn't pressed any button on the panel and he noticed.

"So...what floor?" He went for the buttons but she smiled and pulled her dark brown hair into a ponytail.

"Same as yours apparently."

Bill's brows furrowed. "Have you moved in recently?" The girl nodded and just then he actually looked at her.

The teenage girl next to him didn't fit her surroundings, not even that side of town. She was wearing a perfectly clean public school uniform and clean pale face, he would have expected a heavy black line in her blue eyes, a pair of cheap earrings and black nail polish, she had none of those.
