( EXO ⬆️ )

Fifteen minutes.

It's been fifteen minutes since we've arrived to this café, Kyungsoo asked me to join him on this coffee date so we could get to know each other better. Of course there has been no dialogue exchanged between us, Kyungsoo's eyes were glued onto this blonde haired girl with pale skin from across the room. She was giggling with her friends probably over Kyungsoo's lovey-dovey eyes. I knew this wasn't going to work out, yet I got ahead of myself. I allowed mother to show me an array of wedding dresses and themes. We were gushing about it just last night. Oh course with how this date is going, I'm getting set up for a lifetime of cheating and affairs. Might as well prepare myself for it right?

I was fed up with how he was treating me and I decided to text Evelyn, Asking her to call me so I could have excuse for leaving the café. Smiling once the device was vibrating in my hand I pull my cross-body bag over my shoulder and stand up. Of course that caught his attention, "Where are you going?" He asks with the smallest amount of concern. "Evelyn's calling." I show him tilting my phone so he could glance at my screen at nod before going back to his fantasy about the pale blonde. I felt a small pang in my heart as I watch Kyungsoo approach the younger with such a smile only a player could pull. She was head over kneels for him in seconds.

I could only sigh.

Turning on my heels going towards the bus station across the street I bump into a tall broad chest. Teal fabric blur my vision as I fix the glasses that sat on the bridge of my nose. "You do look prettier up close." My spoke as I instant back away as he smiles, he was familiar. "Remember me?" He chuckles as I bite the inside of my cheek trying to remember where I saw him last.

"Your spanish class?" My eyes widen as his face appears in my head. He was chinese is what I learnt from the females that were gushing over him during lunch that day. "Right sorry. I'm April, this is weird but do you have two-fifty you could spare me?" I ask so I could pay the bus fair. He digs in his pockets and pulls out his wallet handing me three dollar bills. I thank him before leaving but stops me one more time, "Are you with Kyungsoo by any chance?" He knows? I shook my head no, waving a goodbye before I ran towards the station watching the vehicle approach the station. I glance over my shoulder once more but there was no sign of Kyungsoo anywhere.

I guess he was too busy to even notice.

. . .

"Damn watch that shi— be cheating on you once you're married." I only shrug my shoulders as I finish drinking my tea. Bryan was free today so I decided to take him out since he rarely leaves his room. He was fuming I could tell by the red tint blossoming on his ear lobes, he tends to react that way when he's angry. "Tell mom you don't want too. I'll help you, I'll get Cara to help too. We can get dad home some other way." I only shake my head bored of telling him the same thing over and over again, "Who will pay the house off? The debt? You can't, I can't, Cara can't with the girls. I have too." Bryan only sighs in defeat, "I guess you're right." I mess with his hair for a bit before we decide to leave the small tea shop. The sun set quickly signaling our time was up and it was time to go home.

But once I turn the key on the lock and push the door open Mother pulls the keys out of my hands. "April why did you leave D.O?!" Locking and closing the door once Bryan slips into the house standing by my side he decides to stand up for me. "I called her mom! I told her I needed to talk to her, and— and it was an emergency." Mom has a soft spot for Bryan and everyone knows it, she instantly melts into his reasoning. "Next time you stay with him no matter what." She warns before stomping up the stairs.

Yet I didn't know that next time she spoke of was in two days time.

. . .

"Why did you leave the other day?"

Kyungsoo decides to try again with me, different café, different part of town yet the same two people. "I had an emergency," I sigh taking a sip of my drink, "You were well entertained so I left." Kyungsoo shot up shaking his hands in front of me protesting against my thoughts, "She's just a friend!" I hum an agreement before turning to my purse my phone vibrating as I pull it out and put it up to my ear. Kyungsoo was interested as he leans into my direction.

"What?"

"I'm stuck with the girls and I don't know what they like!"

"Have you tried asking them?"

"They said that I should know!"

"Right. The twins like Pororo, the eldest likes Jessie on Disney I think."

"Thank you— Yah! Jenny get out the—"

"Who was it?" Kyungsoo asks as I end the call leaving Bryan to wrestle with the children back at home. "It was Bryan he's babysitting my nieces." Cara and her unpredictable schedule always throws us off with her surprise visits. "How many nieces do you have?" I guess this is progress between us. "I have four nieces." We spent the rest of the afternoon comparing our families how his was peaceful and serene, and how mine was hectic and unbalanced.

"Nachos are the best for movies."

"I thought you'd be a popcorn type of guy." He looks at me as if I have lost my mind, he shook his head no sticking to his nachos as his preferred movie snack. "You want to go watch one? We still have time before you have to go back home." I look down at my phone the bright numbers stating it was only six thirty in the afternoon. I agree to his proposal and we end up in line outside of the movie theater purchasing our tickets and snacks. The terribly high ceiling creates an echo as children run by, the vendors lines expanding by the minute with one new customer lining up to buy their preferences. "April why don't you dress like this to school?" "Like what?" My spaghetti strapped white sunflower patterned dress and black boots were out of the ordinary. "I've never seen you in dresses before."

"Welcome to the club, I don't really like dresses but I just felt like it today." Sipping my coke he compliments my dress, "I like it, it looks pretty on you." I thank him quickly before I become the awkward wreck I usually transform into. "We should go in." The theater's doors open as we walk down the dimly lit corridor towards some seats in the middle of the room. "April um— how do you— or should I say— god I'm a mess but it's just—you do look pretty. Like really pretty— but all the time! Not just because you're wearing a dress.." I laugh quietly at his stuttering confession as I cross my legs, "Thank you." I sigh, "You're not so bad yourself." I could see a blossoming rose hue cover his pale cheeks. He was flustered I could tell he barely spit the words out and yet he looked breath-taking while doing it. I guess I had the urge to play with his messy bangs because the moment my fingers touched his hair he leans into me.

"Kyung—"

Shit — I'm gonna end up falling again. Those mesmerizing lips come in contact with mine as I let out a small yelp from the sudden action. It was an odd mixture of feelings, electricity shooting up my veins but a sudden guard went up when the lights dimmed down signaling the start of the show. His hand found its way onto my thigh as I only lean my head on the back of my chair taking in deep breaths. "You had this planned didn't you?" Kyungsoo shook his head no with widening eyes as reality hit him. "I— I'm so sorry! I should've asked— please don't leave." I turn to him turning my whole body to face his panicking state. "Don't worry I'm not going anywhere."

"Great kiss Kyungsoo!" Kris appears from behind our chairs accompanied with ten other males I've seen throughout the school day. I sink into my seat wanting to disappear,

"Nice to finally meet you Sister-In-Law."
