( D.O : Veronica )

So much commotion over one simple girl.

It was annoying how everyone stops their lives for a few minutes to admire a nicely dressed girl. Long black hair like any other, lips tinted red and a small pale face with brown orbs caught the world by surprise. The Spanish teacher treats her as if she were a King's daughter from some far off land. It's only been two days since she's arrived and everyone was head over heels, especially Kyungsoo. The two have been inseparable these past forty-eight hours.

"She's one of Kyungsoo's childhood friends they were really close before she left to study abroad." Suho sighs as Evelyn was busy tapping on her phone and Daniel peeking over her shoulder trying to catch a glimpse. "Don't you have a date with Kyungsoo?" Sehun asks, I look up to the curious younger shrugging my shoulders, "By the looks of it, I don't think I'll be seeing Kyungsoo for a while."

. . .

Bluebell stretches out tumbling around the wooden floors claiming my room as hers. Bluebell was Cara's old cat she received for a birthday gift years ago""""
, yet I'm still waiting for my puppy. Bluebell roams this house like it were her own but the sky outside my window was a dark navy blue with studded stars decorating the atmosphere. She usually hangs around the window to take in the sun's warmth but has been acting strange these past few days. The window was up to let in the breeze it was another lonely afternoon with Bryan gone to Soccer practice and Mother at work. Only with the company of the snobby yet comforting cat.

It was quiet.

You could hear the pipes dripping water droplets from how quiet it was, the breeze that rattles my window panes accompanies the symphony of the creaking floor boards. The house was getting old anyways it was newly built by the time Nana bought the residence with my Grandpa. It been through three generations surprisingly it's still standing. Then a sudden buzz interrupts my thoughts as I look down to the lit up screen on my phone.

Kyungsoo :
I'm sorry I can't make it April.

April :
It's fine.

I didn't want to talk to anyone at the moment I just want to take in the silence while I could. Anyways there's always peace and serenity before a horrific storm.

. . .

"You should see this.."

The school was abuzz as rumors of Kyungsoo and the new girl having a flings daily. Only a few knew of my arrangement with Kyungsoo and I could feel their pity. Photos of the two smiling brightly and taking care of each other circle around school. "We take full responsibility we should've raised him better." Baekhyun sighs as Suho hits his arm. "This is no time for jokes Baekhyun." I only shake my head, "I don't really care."

"Huh?"

The males sit up as Evelyn and Daniel smile to themselves proud of my confession. I shrug seeing no harm being done to anyone in this situation I have warned myself of possible affairs but I didn't know they would be before the ceremony even started. We don't even have engagement rings and I've already met his mistress. "Surely she doesn't know, right?" Sehun asks as I just sigh, I had a tiny drop of emotions towards him rather him do it now that later. "I don't know.."

"It'll be over soon—" The lunch bell interrupts Chen's words as the students raise to their feet to leave the cafeteria. We all go our separate ways Evelyn has this period with me thank god. The halls empty as there was only a minute left before the bell rang again, walking up the ramp towards the science hall we find a couple smiling to each other. I could tell who the true love birds were.

Evelyn suddenly had the urge to skip class.

. . .

It was awkward.

The two of us sat in my bedroom eyes glued to the screens of our phones. Kyungsoo sat in my chair his fingers running over the metal picture frames enclosing old memories of past summers. "Is this you?" I look up from my phone to see my most precious memory sitting in his fingertips, "Yeah." I say wanting him to put it down before gravity yanks it out of his hold. "Who is she?" The nervous feeling pumping through my veins made me jump off my bed and take the frame away placing it back in its designated spot on my desk.

"She's my grandmother."

Kyungsoo nods as I go to my bookbag that was sitting underneath my window. Unzipping the bag and rummaging through the maze of books and old graded papers I heard a sudden yelp. Turning to see Bluebell has jumped onto Kyungsoo's lap she glares at him with such disinterest she hops down and curls up at my feet. Picking her up and take her to my bed running my nails through her gray fur purring in response to my affection. "Is she yours?" I shake my head no, "Cara's. She's an old cat."

"Is Cara married?"

The question all of us hate to explain if Cara is or is not married. "She's not married." Hopefully he was satisfied with my answer but I could see he wasn't going to give up just yet. "But she has daughters?" I nod, "She was married, after she had the three girls he left, Cara behind to raise the girls on her own." That shut him up fast he nods knowing he's discovered a hidden family vein. The awkwardness floods the room once more as we just sit in the uncomfortable silence. . "How's your friend?"

"Who?— Oh."

He knew who I was referring to.

"She's an old friend that came into town." I nod as a hint of jealous drips into my bloodstream. I could feel my heart pumping on the emotion as I wanted to say and ask more but I just stay quiet. I wanted to know her ambitions and hopes, want to see behind her classic smile to see if she was just a normal human being. I received more than that a few days later.

. . .

"Why do you bother with Kyungsoo if you— along with the rest of the school know we're together?" I only close my locker wanting to walk away before her posse corners me. The spotlight was on me and my next move, and I hated the attention so much. I huff out a sigh before saying, "Just leave me alone okay?" I was only a few months away from graduating I didn't want anything to stop me now. "Why? Are you scared? Big, Mighty winter doesn't accept a challenge? Your older siblings wouldn't be so proud, now would they?" I let out a small laugh as I imagine the older twins probably throwing their fists into student's jaws and groins.

"What?" She laughs as I stare at her, "Are you scared I'll beat you?" The spotlight grows by the second as her voice heightens in pitch. But in the corner of my eye I see his widen eyes as he watches us both intensely. Yet she took the lack of my attention to her advantage grabbing my frame glasses and tossing them across the hall leaving me with a blurry vision. I having astigmatism worsens my vision by the second as tears fill my eyes. I didn't have time to clear my vision as one of her fists came in contact with my shoulder. I could not focus on a single thing yet Dad's lectures on self-defense kick in once I felt my cheek sting from one of her hits.

The crowd intensifies as I grab her hair pulling her to the lockers starting to throw punches on my own. The adrenaline rush storms through my veins as I throw harsh blows against her the lockers rattling as I push her several times before she broke free from my hold. My forearm covers my jaw as she scrapes her nails across my arms, she knew her own tips and tricks as well. I felt strong broad arms wrap around my waist pulling me away from my attacker as I cover my face with my stinging palms. The rush dying down as the crowd was making space for the school teachers. But once I thought I was okay and safe she took the chance to throw a single kick under my jaw causing my teeth to crash into each other violently. It was all too quick I couldn't figure out the way she managed I held my jaw as tears swell in my eyes from the throbbing pain, I saw a familiar pale face run up to me with white napkins. As my body limps once I was standing on my own I couldn't take in the pain she kicks brutally hard.

Mother wasn't going to like this.
