Chapter 1:

*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

*Claire's pov*

I tap the pen in my hand on my desk repeatedly, occasionally biting on the tip of the cap. I stare up from my test and my eyes wonder the room, stopping at the students that were turning their tests in.

"This is the 10 minute mark!"

My teachers voice boomed through my train of thought. Ive always been that type of student who took their time on tests, but today, I was out of it.

I haven't had much sleep. I stayed up till 3 o'clock studying for finals.

My eyes trail the questions on the test while flipping the pages back and forth.

 "Miss Payne?"

I look up to my teacher, her glasses on the tip of her nose, eyeing me in the process. She clears her throat,

"You have a pass from the front office. It seems like you have to leave so, you can finish the test another day" A small breath escapes my lips.

I furrow my brows together and I lean down to my book bag, picking it up. I stand up and straighten my shirt that was risen up a little below my navel and i grab my unfinished test. I turn my head to the side and my eyes land on my friend Taylor.

"Why Are you leaving?" she mouths, her face scrunching up.

"I have no idea..." I mouth back.

I turn my attention back to my teacher. She extends her arm, motioning me to hand her my test. I walk over to her, my boots scuffing on the floor. I place the test in her hands and she hands me a green slip. I grasp it between my index finger and my middle finger. She gives me a small smile and goes back to grading the finished tests. I suck on my bottom lip and turn around and head for the door. My finger tips graze the handle and I look over to Taylor.

"Tell me whats going on." she mouths.

"Miss Bennett!" Mrs. Slater snaps, causing everyone to turn their attention to Taylor. She bites her bottom lip while slowly turning her head to the front. "Do you want me to take your test away?"

Her cheeks flush with red as she shakes her head, "No ma'am."

"That's what I thought. Now, get back to work."

I giggle silently to myself as I grasp the silver handle fully, turning it and exiting the classroom.

The halls were vacant, making it weirdly peaceful. I turn the corner and the front office was in my sight. I wander up to the door and turn the handle entering and going up to the front desk. Before I could ask the lady at the front desk why I was called down, something or should I say someone caught my eye in the corner of the small office. Three pairs of bodies were sat in the chairs up against the wall, all with familiar smiles across their lips.
