HER GOLDEN BROWN EYES

ROHAN SMILED AS he accompanied Elle to breakfast, looking much more cheerful than usual. Elle noticed that he had a sort of glow to his face, and his brown eyes weren't weary as they usually were, but twinkled with content. He looked different, and for once, he looked happy.

At least one of us is, Elle thought to herself, bittersweet emotion coursing through her veins. "You look happy, Ro. Anything I need to know about?" Elle teased, pinching his cheeks fondly.

"We're both sixteen, yaar. And you're still pinching my cheeks." Rohan shook his head as Elle chuckled.

"Anything I need to know about?" Elle repeated, mildly serious this time.

"Nothing nothing... Just a casual hook up to get over Cho." Rohan shrugged, but Elle's grin grew wider.

"Who was it, by the way?" Elle smirked teasingly at her best friend. "That's not important." Rohan chirped as they both skipped down for breakfast.

Elle's blue eyes widened in glee as she saw what was placed on the tables of the great hall, scurrying to the Ravenclaw table and taking a seat in between Luna and Cho.

Ginny Weasley was seating across the pair, and although she ignored Cho, she spoke vivaciously and full of passion to Luna, Luna smiling shyly back. Elle and Ginny had an on and off thing during her fifth year and Ginny's fourth, but had decided to end it since they were better off as friends.

Ginny seemed to be the only somewhat passionate person left after Dolores Umbridge — fondly known by the entire student body as Umbitch — entered the school in Elle's fifth year. Thankfully that toad of a woman had left the school, but it didn't mean the students weren't still scarred by her rules. Elle shuddered as she looked at her right arm, which had the words 'I will not defend liars' embedded on it.

"Elle?" Ginny asked, snapping her out of her daydream, "You zoned out."

"Oh um.. Sorry." Elle smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head. "What were you saying, Gin?"

"Well it's OWLS year for me, so I was wondering if you could help with some tips maybe? I know it's a weird thing to stress about, especially with what's going on but I want to do good and make my family proud and - "

"Of course I'll help you, Ginny." Elle smiled warmly at her, and the redhead beamed.

"Thank you so so so much Elle. Honestly." Ginny's eyes were sincere, and Elle couldn't help but smile back.

Elle looked at the at the waffles in front of her, licking her lips. It had been a while since she had a warm meal, having skipped breakfast so often out of fear and waking up late. The Lovegood took a bite of the warm waffle, it's sweet flavour warming her body and contenting her. Her gaze went over to Gryffindor table, where Harry, Hermione and Ron shot her wide smiles — it had been a while since she had actually come down to breakfast and eaten a full, proper meal.

She knew the trio was proud of her, and she was proud of herself. She had been skipping meals out of stress, finding herself becoming thinner and thinner, yet weaker and weaker, but here she was, scooping maple syrup onto her delicacies and eating out of her own will. Elle was content. And she was eating. And that was good.
