"I've got better ways to waste my time."

************************
I had been DUPED. I knew better than to believe I would be getting 'alone time' with the guy I was crushing on.

I was walking through the passage decorated with aesthetical portraits. I was leading a group of three to the last bit of our tour. Yeah, THREE and not ONE. It happened ever so suddenly, I couldn't object! I was leading Siege to the entrance an over-enthused-looking pair popped out of nowhere with bright smiles.

They spoke to Siege knowingly as it was priorly discussed and it was ALL PART OF THE PLAN. At least Siege had a sort of look of disappointment. He asked if it was alright with me and I couldn't say no.

Javan and Mia.

Most seen with Siege. They were one of the school's infamous couples. They had been together too far back to recall. They were fine. I was just not in the talking mood. Javan made up plenty for all of that. Ever so inquisitive and cracking jokes to the point where I let out a few minor chuckles.

FINE, by the near end of the interaction I was skipping and full smiles. Plus I was actively interacting with the couple. I couldn't say the same for Siege. Siege was silent. He was barely putting in a few words and his demeanor suddenly changed to gloomy.

"Last but not least, the heart of all homes, the kitchen!" I presented the scenery as I jumped to the wooden floors of the area. The space was open plan, overseeing the living room which was close to the front door of the house.

"I love the colour scheme of this kitchen. The backsplash is genius and BOY, the things I would do for those fixtures." Javan me in dramatic as he moved around the kitchen with a look of dramatized awe on his face. I chuckled at his act as the other two followed into the kitchen.

"Okay, hold on there, buddy. You sure do know a lot about kitchen interior..." Mia stated as she gave Javan a look of question.

"Mia, are you being sexist, right now? A guy can have a secret interior design series addiction IF HE SO PLEASES. Understood?" Javan shot back at Mia with nothing but sass. Mia and I both fell into a fit of laughter.

"Hey now- " Mia was interrupted from her words by the bell ringing followed by a knock from the door. I found it particularly odd because I got notifications on my phone when someone was at the gate. I had to permit it to open. Not to mention that my invitations clearly stated that everyone had to use the back gate.

Which could only mean one thing.

I turned to the there and excused myself to go bolt to the door. I sped to the door faster than Sonic the Hedgehog could ever brag about. When I reached the door, I took in a breath of air and opened the door with a simple smile.

The man standing at the other side of the door embodied the looks of a glorified hobo. Overgrown hair, an untamed beard, clothes that we're beyond washing and repair, a tog backpack slung over his shoulder, and shades over his blue eyes. His skin was greatly tanned from when last I saw him. That was a few weeks ago. He looked sweaty and smelled of things I could never identify.

"John. You're here?" I questioned him. John was Aunt's boyfriend. The relationship was complicated one could naturally assume.

How did I forget that he existed?

They had been together for five years. That sounded as if it was a lot but for vampires, it was barely anything. I knew that John wanted to get married but my aunt was...her. They were opposites. John was all about travel and fun. My aunt was all about work and productivity. It was a wonder how they lasted as long as they did.

The part that confused me was why he was not with my aunt. As far as I knew, my aunt made plans to go with him. They were supposed to meet up wherever she went.

"You sound surprised."

"Why...why are you here? Don't you have a trip to go to?" I questioned him.

"To go with your aunt, now let me in." He told me as he took a step forward to enter the house.

"Dude, she left yesterday. You were supposed to meet up with her at her hotel." I explained to him as I stepped in his way from entering.

He froze in motion and took off his shades to close his eyes and rub them in frustration. He let out a little growl before he took in a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"Okay...it's fine. Just a little miscommunication." He spoke to himself.

"I need a shower." He told me as he went into motion to get into the house once again.

"Hey now, sir. Hold on a minute." I exclaimed as I pulled out my hands to place them on his chest to push him back. I was barely doing anything, the guy was cement.

He gave me a look of question.

"You cannot..." I let out in an oddly high-pitched tone.

"Why?" He questioned me slowly and carefully.

"I mean, you cannot just give up! We both know you're a procrastinator. Once you're in the shower, you'll want lunch, perhaps catch up on some Black-ish, and then a little nap. You'll wake up the next day wondering...how did I get here? Before you leave you'll need breakfast but then you might as well eat in front of the TV and the loop continues..." I explained to him with an expression of pure seriousness as I nodded slowly.

"Kid...you know me so well. You're right, I have to go straight to your aunt." He told me as he nodded and gave me an expression of thought.

"After a shower." He added as he moved forward once again. I had to push my hands once again.

"Wait! How do you think my aunt is feeling right now? She probably thinks you're late, on purpose, again." I reasoned with him as I gave him a look of pity.

There was a moment of silence between us. I looked at his ears as I dropped my hands from his chest, they were twitching.

Shit.

"Do you hear that?" He questioned me as he looked straight into my eyes. I gave him a bright smile and shook my head at his words.

"Must be the neighbors. You need to go now..." I let out as I took a step towards him to encourage him to seep away from the door of the house.

"I suppose I should..." He told me as he took a step back. For a second it seemed as if he was going to finally turn and go but he glanced at me one last time.

"Wait, how much did you bribe the workers to not say anything to your aunt?" He questions me with a sly smile. I knew I was caught red-handed. Super senses were a bitch ass thing. Why...?!

I tried not to visibly seem suspicious.

"The workers are off for the week." I told him with a simple smile and a nod.

"No, they're not."

"Yes, they are."

"No, I'm sure your aunt would never leave-OH I get it... sneaky." He said to me giving me an impressed look. If there was one thing we had in common was the art of trickery. It was much needed in my aunt's household. He kept my secrets, I kept his. Though, things had become a little uncertain over the past few months. He was sucking up to her more.

He began taking steps back towards the gate.

I might have told the staff that It was their week off. Leave with pay.

"Wash my Rover and this stays between us, okay!?" He called out before turning around and jogging off closer to the gate.

He didn't give me much opportunity to protest so I opted for an eye roll before stepping into the house to get back to my guests.
