Summary- What if Theo had been there when Gabe and Nolan decided to make Liam their punching bag?
Liam was not having a good day. He had been getting looks of suspicion and disgust from practically everyone in the school except Mason and Corey. He had also lost his position as captain on the Lacrosse team. That one hit hard. Gabe and Nolan were following him and the entire Lacrosse team was blocking all the exits and he had a very good idea why. He was also aware that he wasn't going to like it so he was doing everything he possibly can to avoid them.
The plan to sneak out invisibly had been a good idea at the time, but as soon as they had put it into action Liam realised how stupid and obvious they looked. Mason walked down the corridors with an obnoxiously large area of space around him, trying his best to act natural, as if there wasn't two invisible teenagers attached to his back.
Surprisingly, it hadn't worked. Now, here he was trapped in a classroom while two werewolf hunting idiots stalked dangerously close to him. He knew that whatever he did he couldn't shift. Especially not now that there's a crowd of people watching him. A crowd! All gathered here to watch a someone get beaten up, and not just a regular fight either. And he was the monster? Gabe was up in his face now, taunting him, mocking him.
"What are you trying to hide Liam?" Gabe taunted. "your eyes?"
Liam was seeing red. He desperately tried to hold back his shift, although he wanted nothing more than to show these two exactly what he could do to them. Gabe dragged him to the chalkboard and slammed him against it.
"Open your eyes" he gritted. Liam opened them, and saw the look of surprise on Gabe's face as they turned out to be normal blue and not werewolf gold.
He can do this right?
Nolan shoved Gabe out of the way and punched him square across the face. He fell sideways with a pained groan and hit his head on the wooden desk. He pulled himself to his knees and felt two hands grab his shirt and pull him up.
The sun, the moon, the truth. He repeated in his mind. Liam had noticed that his mantra wasn't working as well lately, but he tried anyway. He saw Mason trying to intervene out of the corner of his eye, but being held back.
His breaths came out in gasps and blood was running down his nose. The punches kept coming and his hope of being saved was growing smaller as the bitch of a teacher walked out doing nothing.
Then it hit him. Well yes literally (in the form of a fist), but no, it was the scent. A scent he had picked up whiff of earlier that day, but thought it to be his imagination. But it was here now. He could smell it perfectly well even though his nose had been broken a few times. And it was as if a switch had been flipped.
A sense of calm washed over him and he reigned in his shift with ease. His healing nose filled with the unique smell of fresh pine and an earthy woodland smell with an almost slightly cinnamon touch. An odd combination, but so incredibly perfect at the same time. It was familiar and Liam would know it anywhere. Another kick to his side caused him to let out a pained groan.
Then he heard commotion, and looked up through a haze of pain. Someone was pushing their way through the crowd towards them. He watched as people tried to grab him but failed miserably as he cruelly shoved them out of the way and made numerous threats that was backed up by his death glares. Then his ocean eyes caught Liam's on the floor and Liam could see the murderous streak in them. Theo
Gabe, apparently not having realised the disturbance, was delivering blow after blow to Liam's side. Suddenly fingers curled around the back of his neck and he was yanked backwards. Theo stood there, his eyes burning with hatred and Liam had to take a moment to remind himself that it wasn't directed at him. Probably not.
