Bella's POV

We drive down a totally deserted road. I glance at the dashboard clock, which reads 3:41 a.m. I sigh and glance in the rear-view mirror, where I see Haili curled protectively around Alexsi, her back turned toward me. I try to turn my attention back toward the road. With my mom and dad dead, they are all I have left. The are my lifeline right now.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I see Toby's body begin to stir, his eyelids fluttering open.

"Hey," I croak from under my breath, my voice sounding more ragged than ever. "What woke you?"

"I dunno......" he grumbles. "Just..... woke up, I guess..."

Laughing on the inside, I try to focus completely on driving. I have my licence, and it's with me, but if I get pulled over, all hell could break loose...

"So, where to now?" asks Toby.

"I don't know." I say, shaking my head. "I just don't know."

"Well, where are we?" he asks, glancing at the clock. 3:50 a.m.

"Somewhere in Midwestern Georgia. We've been traveling from Jacksonville for hours now." I reply. We have been on the interstate for a good four hours now, and I hope that our lives go smoothly from there.

"New Orleans." grumbles Haili. I look in the rear-view again and I see Haili's gemstone greens twinkling in the taillights from the car in front of us. I give her a confused look. She sighs and says, "Mardi Gras? Partying? Seems like our kind of place, huh?"

"Uh, yeah, maybe eighteen months ago!" I protest. "Now I have Alexsi to worry about, and if you and Toby are gonna keep this baby, you gotta stick to the healthy stuff."

Yup, I convinced Haili to keep the baby. She's gonna go through with it, then put the poor thing up for adoption. Better than killing it, though. She sighs, and I let out a small chuckle. We have all reached a peaceful momentum, now I can only pray that It'll last.

"Okay then," I sigh. 'New Orleans it is."
