the beginning

Levi Ackerman, 37 year old captain of the special operations squad under the command of commandant Erwin Smith. The one that saved him years ago, his one and only soulmate..

It was the day on which the special operations squad planned to start the two weeks operation to the long lost wall-Maria. Erwin had talked to Hangë, Levi and Dot for weeks and they managed to come up with a plan as perfect as it could possibly be. The three were already expecting a success out of this expedition and a smaller amount of losses than on other days.

-midnight-
The whole team was waiting besides their horses, for Erwin to give them the signal to ride out of the stone door, into the area that was supposed to be floated with titans.
BANG!
And with that, everyone was on their horses and riding in the positions that were planned for them, towards the woods west of the wall.
After hours of riding, changing positions just in case and small breaks for the animals to rest, there were no Titans to be seen and even if it was night and they were supposed to be inactive, Levi was concerned about this situation but Erwin on the other side decided to ignore it for now.
Once they arrived, everyone was whispering. Exhausted and tired, they tried to take care of the horses as fast as they could, so the team could get to rest sooner.
Levi tied his horse to a three next to the place he chose to sleep at and sighed before walking over towards the commandant.
"I don't like this situation Erwin, something seems off." Levi said before crossing his arms and looking up at the taller male.
"The plan is as perfect as it could be and nothing happened till now no? If we stick to the plan everything should be alright." Erwin tied his house to a three nearby as well before he turned around to face Levi and placed a hand on the captains shoulder while a nearly unnoticeable smile made its way across the blonds face.
Everyone was laying down by now and was resting or sleeping, cuddled up into blankets that weren't going to warm anyone up. Levi was sitting around the campfire and looked up into the night sky with a slightly tilted head before he took a small sip of his water.
"You should be resting" a way too familiar voice whispered from behind him and the captain turned around to see the tall male with crossed arms.
"Same goes for you commander." After spilling the rest of the water into the softly burning fire, Levi got up and turned towards Erwin. He looked at him for a second before crossing his arms and walking past the blond. "Why are you still up."
"I was.. just thinking about things.." Erwin admitted while walking after Levi, who went to his sleeping place and set down.
"I thought you said that your plan is per-"
"I wasn't thinking about the plan Levi" before the dark haired could finish his sentence, Erin cut him off and pushed himself from the three he was leaning against and set down next to where Levi was. "You will see soon." The blond mumbled before laying down and closing his eyes while humming and slowly falling into a peaceful sleep. Levi watched the other with a questioning expression before he shook his head and couldn't help but let the small smile appear on his face. He leaned down as well and turned to the opposite direction while closing his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
