You couldn't deal with it anymore. You had to get out of there. Parties every night, lines of cocaine being done in the bathroom, the house always smelling like someone had died in there. You were sick of it. So you left. You told Noel you couldn't stay there anymore and that you needed to get away for a while. He didn't take it well but he loved you more than anything and he wasn't going to hold you back from doing what would make you feel safe and happy.
One month. That's how long you had left for. you were staying at your mums house and had only spoken to Noel once throughout that month and he seemed fine over the phone so you presumed that he was doing fine but when you walked into the home you had bought together about a year ago your mind was changed.
The house was dark and smelt like alcohol but you could tell that there hadn't been any parties thrown since you had left. You made your way into the living room where you'd usually find Noel watching the telly but he wasn't there. The living room was a mess, the curtains were closed and there were what you thought were scraps of paper all over the wooden coffee table.
You hung up your coat and placed your bags at the bottom of the stairs deciding it was time to clean up whatever mess that had been made when you were gone. You started in the living room by opening the curtains and cleaning up the scraps of paper on the coffee table. As you were cleaning them up you realised they weren't scraps they were lyrics, Lyrics you had never seen before.
'It's hard enough being alone
Sitting here by the phone
Waiting for my memories
To come and play
It's hard enough sitting there
Rockin' in your rockin' chair
It's all too much for me to take
When you're not there'
When you read those lines you broke. Tears were streaming down your face and they wouldn't stop. You had to find Noel, you ran all over the house until you found him in your shared bedroom on the top floor of your house. His face was buried in your pillow and he was still fully dressed. You could tell he wasn't doing well as his usual stubble was longer than usual and his hair looked like a birds nest.
He didn't budge when you walked in the room and that's when you heard his soft snores. You knelt down on the floor next to the bed so your head was level with his. You were gently stroking his hair when he started to stir in his sleep he quickly opened his eyes obviously startled because he thought he was home alone
when he saw you he just closed his eyes again because he thought he was dreaming but quickly opened them again and sat up when he realised it was actually you. His face lit up and he pulled you in for a hug. As you were hugging you felt the fabric of your shirt on your shoulder become wet. He was crying.
"Never leave me again Y/N, please don't do that to me again. I can't live without you" he choked out
"I'm not going anywhere Noelie. i promise"
He gently kissed your lips. His lips tasted salty from all the tears that he had shed. Once you had pulled apart you climbed up on the bed and cuddled into his side. You stayed in bed for the rest of the day being with each other and you refused to leave his side for the rest of the night.
