ALISON :

It has been two weeks now since Mary's death. The school is closed, at least until the investigation is done. I didn't do much these past two weeks, I was still in chock. Never have I ever seen that much blood.

I haven't heard from the new guy either, it's like if he had dissapeared.

We were having a peaceful diner, Marissa had made her famous macaroni and cheese and Aiden was home for once.

"So, how's the investigation going?" Uncle Ben asked Aiden. I swallowed my food quickly, letting all of my memories from that night come back to my mind. "Nothing new really, I mean we don't actually have any real suspects but-" "What do you mean no real suspects?" I cut him off. "I told you, Mary was with the new guy right before they found her!" I yelled. "Ali, the guy dissapreared and beside, we questioned every single witness and a lot of them saw Mary with other people too" he explained. Whatever I thought.

BREAKING NEWS ; "Two weeks ago, teenage girl Mary Lancaster was found dead at her high school during an event. The police have been doing everything in their power to catch the killer and it seems like their work has finally payed off. The police departement of Georgia found earlier this evening a young man, Joe Amer, 18. We have been informed that the killer shot himself right after writing an confession letter. We will be back as soon as we have more information. Helen Fabry, ABC News."

My ears were still processing what they'd just heard when a huge vague of guilt rushed thru my body. I actually accused an innoncent man of murder.

My brother's radio kept making noise and in a few seconds he was out of the house ready to help the other officers.

"What kind of sick person kills a young girl" Marissa was in shock. "I'm so glad you're okay honey" she kissed the top of my head. I smiled and squeezed her hand.

**

It has been three weeks now since our school closed, they wanted to make sure everything was safe before re opening their doors. I must admit, getting ready for school after three weeks is weird. But it's time to live a normal life again.

Once the class was over, everybody rushed to the cafeteria. It's pizza day. Everybody but me and Jackson. "Ali, can we talk?" he asked. "Yeah, what's up?" I asked even though I wasn't really in the mood. "Look, I know it's been a while since that night but I just want you to know that, I really like you Ali and-" he seemed so ashamed. "Jacks.." I cut him off. "Look I care about you, and that's why I don't want to take the risk of messing up our friendship" I said hesitantly.

"Yeah, okay I got it" I could hear anger in his voice. With that, he packed his things and left. "Jackson" I called him back but he ran off. Way to go Ali. I just didn't want anything serious with him, I've known the guy my entire life. I sighed and packed my things.

I could feel a presence behind me. But I'm alone in the class, I thought.

"Boyfriend drama, huh?" an unknown voice spoke. I turned around in fear. "Jeez" I said, putting my right hand on my chest. "You scared me"

shit, the new guy.

I was so ashamed. "Sorry" he smiled. "Didn't mean to scare you" he said before staring at me with a confused look. "Oh," he started "you're the girl who thought I killed poor Mary" he seemed amused. I must have become totally red. "I-I am so sorry about that" I said. "It's just, I've never seen anything like that before and I just panicked, you know?" I asked him, hoping he'd say yes. "And also, I am so sorry for hitting you, I had absolutely no right to do that" "No worries, it's all forgiven cupcake" he smiled. Wow, didn't see that coming. I smiled back at him, still very ashamed of myself. "I'm Kai Parker, by the way" he said. I could finally call him by his real name instead of the new guy, creepy guy, freak.

"Kai?" I narrowed my eyes while putting my books back in my bag. "That's original" I stated. "Yeah, well my parents actually called me Malachai" he laughed. "Okay, Kai's better" I laughed back. "So you're Alison, right?" I nodded. "I wanted to apologize too" "For what?" "The day you came to talk to me, in the cafeteria?"

Oh right, when he practically told me to go fuck myself.

"I was having a really crappy day and you just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, nothing personal" he explained. "Let's say we're even now" I smiled while hanging my bag on my shoulder. Although accusing someone of murder isn't as bad as an impolite person. Oh well, he doesn't seem bothered by that. "Sure, let's say we're even" he smiled.

I walked passed him ready to go find my friends when he called me back. "I'm sorry, do you happen to know where Mr Harris's class is?" he asked. "I'm new here, don't know much about this school." "Sure, right down that hall, to your left" I smiled and he thanked me. "Mr Harris, huh?" I asked. "He's my sciences teacher as well, and all I can tell you is, good luck" I teased. "Oh so you're in his class too?" "Yup" "Great, guess I'll see you tomorrow Ali".

Although he seemed like a pretty nice guy, something was bizarre about him and I just couldn't put my finger on it.

I know this guy, I just don't know from where.

I do admit that I'm pretty excited to know him better, maybe then I'll figure out what's been bothering me all this time.

**

"Okay class, choose a partner and start doing your experiment. Now remember, once you're done, you must end up with a nice crystal, just like this one" Mr Harris explained while showing his beautiful crystal or whatever that thing is.

My lab partner is usually Lily but she jumped on the hot guy today.

Classic.

I looked arround, trying to find a partner and saw Kai, sitting two chairs behind me. He's kind of a loner. I moved my head indicating to come next to me and he accepted.

"Why should I move and not the other way arround?" he laughed. "Because I'm the one who get's to make the rules" I laughed back. "You're in a good mood" he stated while poring a yellow liquid into the tube. "You know, I've got a pretty dark past so I don't actually laugh a lot. That's why when I'm in a good mood, I decide to be in a super good mood" I explained while continuing the experiment. "Dark past, huh?" he asked. "You don't say" he whispered. "You too?" I asked. "Yeah, I just don't like to talk about it" he said. "Oh it's fine, I totally understand" I smiled.

"Oh oh, your boyfriend's staring at us and he doesn't seem happy" he said. I looked up and saw Jackson glaring at Kai. "Who, Jackson? He's not my boyfriend." My tone was serious "I'm sorry, did I say something I shouldn't have?" he asked "No, not at all, he's just not my boyfriend" I said, avoiding any eye contact possible. He mustered a "okay" before getting back to the experiment.

"Class, times up! I hope you did this seriously because I'm going to ask you to write a paper about the reaction you saw today. You'll be doing your paper with your partner. Have a good day."

"What do you say, my place?" I asked the blue eyed boy next to me. "Uh," he sounded hesitating "sure, when should I come over? or should I take us?" he asked. "Right!' I said "You have a car. Fine, you'll drive us home" I smiled. "See you then, Parker!"
