ALISON :

I was deeply asleep when like every other damn morning, I heard this annoying "bip bip" coming from my left. My clock read "8:00 am" and as usual, I'm late. In not even 5 seconds, I'm up, running like a crazy in my room. When I finally was ready, I ran downstairs and saw Aunt Marissa in the kitchen making coffee.

"Oh, hey honey!" she smiled at me. "Hi Marissa. I know, I'm late. Again." I said kind of embarrassed. "It's okay. Here take some coffee." she smiled again. After taking a sip of the hot drink, I noticed that Uncle Ben and Aiden weren't home. "Hey Marissa, where's Ben and Aiden?" "Ben had an early shift this morning, he left earlier to the hospital and your brother got picked up by another officer for some grocery store robbery." she explained. I nodded and continued my breakfast.

It's been 13 years now that my brother Aiden and I are living with our uncle and aunt. I was only four years old when our parents died. I can't quite remember what happened exactly, everything's just a blur. All I can remember is playing in the garden with Aiden and suddenly hearing screams coming from our house.

Aiden took my hand and kept telling me "stay behind me." We got in the house by the back door and saw a man, an unknown man, muttering incomprehensible words. Mom and dad were doing the same but it was like the man was ten times stronger than them. How could he possibly be hurting them without having skin contact? All of the candles were out of control. I wanted to scream but Aiden kept his hand over my mouth. Mom and dad fell on their knees and all I heard was mom begging the man not to come after 'them'. That they would sacrifice themselves but only if they would leave 'her' out of this mess. Did they mean my brother and I? Or somebody else? I couldn't hear the man's answer but I did see him taking out a knife and continue with those weird words. I was ready to run to them but Aiden pulled me away and brought me to the kitchen.

That's it. I can't remember the middle. It's like a huge hole in my mind. I do remember being found by the police in the corner of the kitchen, crying. I was brought to the police station with my brother and there was Uncle Ben and Aunt Marissa. Ben is my father's brother and since they had no children, they took us in. They are the only family my brother and I have. The rest are either dead or unknown.

"You're okay sweetheart?" Marissa snapped me out of my thoughts. "Yeah," I answered "I'm fine." I continued eating when I suddenly heard my phone buzzing.

From Lily : "What's up giiiiirl? Need a ride? Be there in five. P.S : don't make me wait!"

I smiled at my best friend's message. "If you need someone to take you to school I can take you, my car is parked outside." Marissa proposed kindly. "Thanks but Lily's picking me up" I drank the last sip of my coffee and kissed my aunt goodbye.

Marissa is the most kind women I know. She did everything she could to fill the role of my mother. She never wanted to replace her and that is something I truly respect about her. I'd do anything for her, just like she did for me. I remember her face when they picked us up from the police station that night, she seemed so broken even though my father was not her family.

I could already see Lily's Porche in my drive way. She's that rich girl with every boy at her feet, you know? Although I couldn't care less about her money, this girl is the sister god never gave me. I met her in kindergarten, I still remember her stealing my pillow when it was bed time. I started our friendship off hating her because of her bitchy attitude but after a few weeks, I couldn't get enough of her. She helped me go thru my parents death and so did her family. I got in the car and she started talking about boys. You don't say.

"You know, I'm sick of the guys of our school, they are so boring, I want new guys, fresh meat" she explained. I couldn't help but laugh at her stupidity. "Do I need to remind you that you have a boyfriend?" I laughed. "Who? Sebastian? Oh I dumped him yesterday, got tired of his lame flowers." she explained like if it were the most normal thing ever. I couldn't believe my ears, but then again, it's Lily we're talking about. She smiled at me and put back her sun glaces on.

When we arrived, we saluted our three other friends. Brandon, the kind one, his girlfriend Clarisse, the soft one and finally Jackson, the hot goofy one. After we all said what we needed to say we were ready for a boring casual school day.

**

When the last bell finally rang, we all reunited at the entrance. "So," Lily started with her exited voice, "it's friday night, who's ready for a fun and crazy night at the club?" Everybody approved in excitement but me. "I don't know guys, I don't really feel like going out tonight." I explained hoping they'd spare me. "Oh come on Ali, it's been since forever!" Lily yelled. "She's right, you should live a little." this time it was Jackson talking. "It'll be really fun" he begged me with his puppy eyes. "Ugh okay, come and get me by 9" I said. They all yelled and we all went home, getting ready for tonight.

**

What should I wear tonight? I wanted to keep it simple so I decided to go with a pair of skinny jeans, my white converse and a blouse. While I was trying to make a decent pony tail, I heard a knock on my door. "Yes?" I yelled. "It's me sis, can I come in?" "Yeah sure!" My brother Aiden entered my room with his police officer 'costume' as I like to call it.

Aiden is the most important person in my life. He's 24 so seven years older than me, therefor he's always been so protective towards me. Once he finished high school, he decided to become a police officer and hopefully one day become Sheriff, just like our dad was. Ever since he became an officer, I have been seeing him less but I do feel safer like this.

"Damn, where are you going dressed like that?" he teased me. "I'm just going to some party, blame my friends they forced me." I laughed. "Okay well have fun but I have to warn you," his tone became more serious, "no crazy stuff tonight, promise?" he asked. "I'd hate to crash the party and arrest somebody in front of you and your friends." "I promise, officer" I said. "Good," he hugged me, "now go have fun, you deserve it."

When I was finally done with everything, I got into Lily's car. Brandon, Clarisse and Jackson were also there and they all applauded when I got in. "Funny." I whispered. "We were just worried you were having second thoughts about going out tonight, we're just happy you're here!" Brandon said. We all started singing and I was just hoping that I was going to spend one hell of a night.

The music was loud and every single person was dancing. "Jackson didn't stop staring at you since we got in." Lily, of course. "The hell are you saying, we're just friends." I explained. "Well he sure as hell doesn't see you as a friend, my dear." she teased. I decided to ignore her but after few minutes, Jackson was no longer at the bar but right next to me. "Wanna' dance?" he asked, a little drunk. "Sure" I smiled. We started dancing but it got more and more intense. His hands were on my back but they were going lower and lower. When I finally realised what was going on, I decided to go get some air.

The music faded more and more. I took a deep breathe and realised that there was a man, tall but young, standing a little further. I narrowed my eyes, trying to see him better, who knows, maybe I'm just hallucinating. I got a little closer and that's when I was sure it was really a man. He had this smirk on his face that sent chills down my spine but for some reason, I was intrigued by him. He shook his head one side, indicating me to come closer, so I did. "Excuse me, are you lost?" I asked as steam came out of my mouth because of the cold. The man had cold dark blue eyes and kept his smirk on. "Alison Harper." he said with a voice that made me freeze on the spot. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" I asked, confused. "You don't, but I do." he said. "How? Who are you?" I asked. "So many questions, cupcake" who the hell is this this guy? "You'll get your answers," he said as he gently touched my cheek, "but just not right now. All I needed to know was if you were alive and you clearly are so that's enough for one night." he explained. So many questions came to my mind but before I could even say a word, he held my shoulders and started whispering some words, I believe it was latin and with that, he disappeared.

"What the hell are you doing outside Ali?" Brandon yelled. I turned around in chock. What was I doing here? "I-I don't know" I said. "It's like a hole in my head, I remember feeling dizzy so I decided to get some air and then, nothing! Next thing I know, I'm a few feet away from the club and you're calling me" I explained him. "It's okay, maybe you just blacked out. Come back inside, we'll leave in a few minutes." with that, he took me under his arm and I went back inside, totally confused. The last time I felt like this was the night my parents died. Maybe I did black out or maybe I had too much drinks.

Yeah, I'm sure it's because of that.
