"Wait if we splitting into teams I want Ray!" Drew called out

The camp leaders had started a scavenger hunt for the youth group today since Big Momma suggested they needed some fresh air. She said I could watch so I could get some fresh air also. Although I knew I couldn't participate this beat listening to Little Ron and his friends cry over stolen crayons. Plus I'd be able to occasionally talk to Melo.

"Okay Drew you can team up with Ray. Two..four...six...... fifteen. We missing somebody." Big Momma stated and looked at the two youth group leaders for the boys, Mr. Clark and Ms. Stone.

"Gelo had a doctors appointment, can I team up with Carmen?" Melo asked Big Momma. She looked up thinking if she was going to allow me to play with the youth group. I wanted to play so bad, sure I was little but I was pretty fast my age. I used to dust all the boys back at Mommy's house, she even told me she'd sign me up for track. But that didn't really work out.

Even though I'm sure Melos question was for Big Momma, Drew and his gang of nobodies had to say something. "It's other people to partner up with Melo. Mike, Andre, Eli.." Ray listed off options to Melo and my hope died down, he'd probably pick one of them. They were his friends but I could never understand why. I get they were boys but Mike was always musty, Andre smelled like pennies and eggs, and Eli was just dumb. I remember Drew telling me about how he got held back in third grade twice and that's the reason why he's fourteen turning fifteen and still in seventh grade. Melo could do so much better on the friends scale. I knew I wasn't all that but the third grade? Twice?

I shook my head down hoping that he'd just pick someone so Ray can quit naming the whole world. I played with the clips in my ear hearing the sound of Rays voice cracked voice fade away.

"Carmen, come on be my partner!" Melo called for me. I looked over at Big Momma who'd nodded her head in approval, It was just up to me. "Please?" I sigh. The things we do for love...or whatever Tupac said. Walking over to Melo, for the first time I wished Gelo would have been here. What was once excitement faded to that annoying cloudy feeling and I knew Melo and I alone would probably result in me making a fool of myself. Thinking now I hope I didn't look bad walking over to him, I was a little slouchy but that's because it's early.

"Okay, We'll go over the rules one more time since Carmen wasn't with us when we told them." Mr. Clark started and the boys let out a few groans. I already felt cloudy now I was annoyed. That's not a good mix at all, should I just dismiss Melo. But he did say 'please' what kind of future wife would I be if I turned down his 'please'

"It's okay, Melo will it explain it to me as we search." I suggested kind of wanting this to just be over with. If you couldn't tell it was a lot of mixed emotions about this scavenger hunt. Mr.Clark asked if I was sure before I had given a small nod.

"Alright, boys and girl, in three...two...go!" Ms.Clark yelled and the teams scattered around running. I looked down at my shoes and outfit that were in no fit for this type of activity.
