Circa. August 2014

"This- this is a bad idea Junior." I shivered a bit at the cool night breeze

"How?" Junior stops and looks at me with his flashlight, "Syd thinks we're sleep so we can't get caught. This is full proof plan." I move the beaming light from my face. "Don't ya think."

"Heck no!"

His loud hushs startled me causing me to flinch. "Shhh, you'll startle him CJ." Snapped Junior as he whisper yelled to me

Last night, Junior and I stayed up late talking and giggling. And with Syd giving us a extra half hour to stay up it was even more fun. Sydney's really the best, I was happy we got her. While Junior and I stayed up talking about anything that came to mind, I mean anything and everything! We discussed people at the camp, tv shows, but relevant now Big Foot. Junior says he believes he's real, I do too but he'd probably be somewhere with a deep forest not the ones we got over here. Junior swears that he's near, see Junior believes there isn't just one Big Foot but like a species of them just wandering around earth. So he really believes in big feet. Junior proposed that we search for him and since he told me he already set out booby traps earlier we'd just have to follow the trail he left. I was unsure we he managed the time to set up these boobytraps without getting caught by a counselor but yet again I could never comprehend how or why Junior did most things.

"Do you see anything?"

I shake my head pacing back in forth a bit. It was dark and we were two kids that nobody knew was gone. And we were black, black people don't ever survive in them scary movies. If anything they the first ones out for doing stupid stuff and here Junior and I were out here in a dark forest doing stupid stuff.

Our hands gripped our flashlights tightly and as Junior swayed I would occasionally feel little water droplets come from his hair. It didn't bother me before but with the chilling breeze that continued to sweep over us the droplets seemed to fuel the fire. In the cabin we'd decided it would be best if we both kept our eyes on one side. That way if one of us were to see something sketchy we'd just notify the other. I was positioned to watch the left while Junior was watching the right. Back to back our bodies were at full alert to anything. Our bodies jerked at the sound of a snap, which just ended up being a twig on the ground. From there we vowed to both be quiet as possible. Big foot had to have some type of advanced super hearing. And as much as I loved Junior as a friend, I wasn't bout to be eaten by big foot over some stupid knock knock joke.

We sneak past the big kids cabin where we see they are throwing some kind of party. Junior and I put our search to a pause and peek through the window. Trying our best to see what they were doing. "Just got rich, took a broke n*gga Bitch, I can make a broke b*tch rich." Chris browns voice filled Junior and i ears. Junior looks over at me as we laugh as quietly as possible. Moving almost in perfect sync, we move from the window, doing dance moves that Chris brown did in the video. We tried our best to mimic it but we probably looked like we had squirrels in our pants or something. The big kids weren't anything watch worthy, at least at this moment. By the music playing you'd think they were getting their party on but nope, nothing. They were all just laying down, pretty boring huh.

"Okay, you sure we won't get in trouble for this?"

I pause in the middle of me pacing. Junior stops also letting out a yawn. I rubbed my eyes and watch a sight that I'd probably be really sad about in the morning. I didn't have a watch but it had to be around ten o'clock and here Junior and I were watching Lamelo and Mimi messing around by the lake. "What are they doing?" I questioned Junior in a whisper. Junior couldn't even answer he just gave me a shrug before going back to watching the most disgusting thing I've seen in my life. There Mimi was touching all up on him, giggling as she did. I knew she was probably over doing it, from all the way over here she reeked of desperation. But watching now I could feel me getting green skinned. "Nope." I said lowly to myself. I can't let this make me jealous of Mimi, I just gotta remember what Sydney told me. "Be like Syd."
