that night in 12 grimmauld place, was one that no one would forget. harry learned of many things that came as massive shocks for him. the order, the ministry's hatred for him and his mentor, the great albus dumbledore, and now her. the meeting happening amongst the order members wouldn't be the only meeting taking place tonight. he would be introduced to the offspring of the man who he hated most. the man who betrayed his parents. the man who played one of the biggest parts in their death.

"wormtail? has a daughter?" harry said shocked. never in a million years would he have expected someone to have wanted to mate with him.

"shocking, i know. but yes. we took her in after she gained our trust. we thought it was time we told you." answered sirius.

remus then added, "kindred pettigrew. she hates her last name so we never bring it up. she's ashamed i suppose. but you might as well get used to her. she'll be sticking around. padfoot and i have actually grown quite fond of her."

"we wanted you to be the first to know, given your connection to her father and what not. we know you'll have your reservations, that's a given of course, but we do ask that you be kind to her. she's a very sweet girl and it's not her fault who she was born to." sirius said with a warmth in his voice harry wasn't used to. he was serious, no pun intended, and he could tell he cared for the girl, as did remus.

that meant something to him, but he just wasn't quite sure he could ever be kind to her. how could they even like her? after all her father did play a part in the murder of their best friends. so many thoughts were filling his head right now. no, he could never be kind to her. he would never be able to trust her. from this day forward, he swore up and down that he would hate her for as long as he lived and wouldn't fall victim to whatever little trance she had sirius and remus under. he hated her and he hadn't even met her yet.

the boy hadn't even realized it, but he'd been quiet and staring off into space for quite some time now. sirius and remus could tell he was in deep thought and having a mental battle with himself. the couple shared a few argumentative looks with eachother, silently fighting over who should speak next, before ultimately deciding on remus, giving he has a more gentle and convincing nature.

"look son, we're not saying it won't be difficult. it will take time for her to gain your trust." harry let out a scoff hearing remus's unconvincing words. "listen harry you have to keep in mind she isn't her father." sirius spoke up.

"oh please. you actually think i could ever trust her, remus? and you know what they say sirius, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. she's probably just like her father." harry said slightly raising his voice. they were asking to much of him.

an uncomfortable silence filled the room since the men decided it would be better to just not say anything else for the time being.
a few minutes passed before harry finally spoke up.

"so the rest of the order doesn't know yet? about her i mean."

"no. no they don't. like sirius said, we wanted you to be the first to know."

"i take it she knows about them though. are you introducing her tonight?" harry had many questions.

"that's what we planned on, yes."

"who is her mother? and who raised her? how old is she? how long has she been living with you two? how- " harry was about to continue when he was suddenly cut off by sirius.

"woah slow down there boy. we'll answer all your questions i promise, but just, one at a time please. first, we don't know. she's 14 at the moment and only three months younger than yourself. she was raised in an orphanage until she was about 12, which is when remus and i were informed of her existence. after much debate, we decided that we couldn't leave an innocent child to live like that. so, we started going to visit her. we were like you, in the beginning, believe it or not. she was very mature which made us skeptical. we didn't understand why she hadn't gotten a hogwarts letter when we found out she has magical abilities. she's actually a very bright witch, considering she's never had any training other than us helping her a big over these past few years. after many visits, we decided to legally adopt her."

harry was quiet for a few more moments, not really knowing what to say. then remus spoke,
"she wants to meet everyone. says she's tired of feeling like this big secret and she says the sooner everyone meets her, the sooner she'll be able to prove she's not a horrible person and she'll actually have friends. she's had a tough life, harry. she beats herself up everyday over her father and- "

"good i'm glad she does. you know what? let her meet everyone. i'm actually pretty excited to meet her now that i know about her heartbreaking backstory." harry interrupted with a very sarcastic tone in his voice that the two men didn't appreciate.

"harry, we understand why you're not to fond of the idea of her, but don't be so cruel and critical. you haven't even met her yet. in fact, you should be able to relate to her a bit. you've both had hard lives. we were actually hoping you could be her first... her first friend." sirius remarked.

that really sent him over the edge. befriend her? were they delusional? he was angry, but he also saw he was hurting his god-father and his partner. so just for them, he would try to keep it together tonight.

"harry just- please," sirius started to say something before he was cut off by harry once again. "bring her down. i don't think i'll ever be ready, but i guess i can try for you guys." he gave them a small smile before standing up and going to re-join the rest of the order.

so there's the first chapter. i hope you enjoyed. what do we think? :)

i apologize if there's any typos!

also, in this story, sirius didn't spend as long in azkaban.
