~narrator's p.o.v.~

"well hello dear! i'm molly weasley." the red haired woman beamed at kindred. "this is my husband arthur." she said placing her hands gently on mr. weasleys shoulders from behind as he gave the girl a friendly nod.

"it's lovely to finally meet you two! i've heard so much about you both from remus and sirius."

"well i would sure hope so." mr. weasley jokingly said, giving kindred a warm smile.

suddenly two tall, ginger boys stood up from the table and walked over to kindred.

"hello there beautiful." they said in unison.

"i'm fred weasley" fred said, taking her hand and planting a light kiss on it.

"and i'm george weasley." george said following his twin and repeating fred's actions.

"oh yes, i've heard loads about you two as well. 'mischievous flirts' i believe were sirius' words." kindred said, smiling up at the attractive boys who towered over her.

she scanned over the table and saw a boy with round glasses staring off into the distance. "harry i presume." she thought to herself.

~kindred's p.o.v.~

after everyone introduced themselves, i took my seat at the table. everyone was surprisingly kind to me. i was shocked at everyone's kindness. well, almost everyone. harry hadn't spoken to me or even looked at me as a matter of fact.

i understand why he's giving me the cold shoulder though. i mean, my father did practically rob him of his parents. hell, i hate myself for it. why wouldn't he?

my thoughts were interrupted by the feeling of a hand on my shoulder. i jumped slightly but i was comforted when i recognized the sound of sirius' voice.

"how are you doing darling? not overwhelmed are you?" my dad spoke.

"i'm doing great. i'm very happy actually. everyone's extremely kind." i replied.

"that's great. i'm glad you're happy. look sweetheart, im sorry about harry. he's not exactly taking this whole 'you' thing so great. he'll come around eventually i'm sure."

our conversation was cut short by the clinking of a a fork on a glass.

everyone's attention turned to the front of the room, where remus was now standing with a glass in his hand.

"first, i want to make a toast to my lovely daughter, kindred. i can absolutely speak for her when i say she's so appreciative of all of your kindness and acceptance." remus said.

"to kindred." he said assertively, looking at me with a sweet smile and lifting his glass.

"to kindred!" repeated everyone else while raising their glasses. well, everyone but harry of course.

i genuinely wanted to cry, happy tears of course. i didn't, but i wanted to.

"thank you everyone," i stated, "it truly means more than you know. i have the big family i've always dreamed of. all of you are so wonderful, and i'm very grateful for you and your kindness."

molly gave me a reassuring smile from the head of the table. just then, remus cleared his throat.

"now, secondly, i have an announcement involving kindred."

i raised an eyebrow at him. an announcement? involving me? what could this possibly be?

sirius joined remus at the front of the room and remus threw his arm around his partner, who was significantly shorter than him. i always found their height difference adorable.

"our beloved kindred," sirius took over, "will be attending hogwarts this year. i'm leaving it up to you young ones to look after her."

my jaw dropped.

fred and george shot me a smirk.

hermione's eyes widened but then she quickly regained her composure and smiled softly.

ginny turned to look at hermione and shot her a "finally, another girl!" sort of look covered with an ear to ear smile.

ron looked up for a brief second with a slight look of disbelief, before just brushing it off and turing back to his food.

and then there was harry. oh boy.

harry just stood up from the table and stormed out of the room.

what a fun year this was going to be.

hey besties! this took an unnecessarily long time to get here, but i hope u enjoyed it. kind of a short chapter but shits about to go down pretty soon. 😳

also, sorry if there's any typos or if something doesn't make sense!! i do proof read and what not but it's always possible i can miss something lol

p.s., idk if it says this for y'all, but every time i upload a new chapter, it says something about i updated the author introduction too? idk but i hope it's not sending anyone a notif all the time saying i just updated that when i didn't and it's confusing lmao. idk how to fix that on mine but oh well. maybe my wattpad's just weird
