Taehyung sighed, shutting his eyes as he attempted to slow the pace of his heart down. It's been a long week since he had last stood here; since he had last faced Jimin fully. He doesn't know why, but it hurt a lot knowing he felt seemingly nervous at the idea of speaking to his best friend of fifteen years.
Pursing his lips, he knocked on the door of the dorm room as he awaited for some sort of answer. He could have just unlocked it himself, opening it like it was whatever—after all, it was his room too—but he just couldn't bring himself to. Over the past week, this dorm room was becoming less and less of some sort of home to him. His friends picked up his clothes as he hid in the depths of their dorm rooms, avoiding all contact with the Park siblings.
He was finally glad he didn't have to do that anymore; avoid them as he spent hours overthinking. Having set things right with Yuri last night made him overjoyed. Spending the night with her was also a bonus.
Now, it was time to make things right with the other Park sibling. His best friend, Jimin.
He was freaking out.
The moment the door clicks open, Taehyung's breath catches in his throat and he freezes in his place. He didn't notice, but his hands had begun shaking too.
As Jimin appears in the doorway, his hair messily tousled on this early Saturday morning looking as if he had just woken up, he couldn't contain the light gasp from escaping his lips at the sight of his best friend. He stood there silently, flickering his eyes up and down the boy's body as if he was taking in his appearance; as if he hadn't seen him in years.
Taehyung couldn't endure anymore of this awkward silence, so he decided to initiate the conversation first. He deeply sighed, stepping closer to the surprised boy. "Jimin, look, I'm really sorry for avoiding you all week. I ju—"
His sentence is interrupted, eyes widening in shock as Jimin suddenly embraces the boy into a tight, heart wrenching hug. He stood there for a moment, rendering a bit stunned before slowly hugging his best friend back, his hand reaching to slide behind his back.
The hug lasted long as Jimin desperately clung onto Taehyung's shirt as if afraid to let the boy go, scared he'd leave him again. It made Taehyung's heart ache and suddenly he felt horrible for doing such a idiotic thing.
But what made him truly feel evil, is when he began to feel Jimin's body shake against his embrace, wetness soaking through the thin material of his shirt. "Jimin." He gasped, hugging him tighter upon realizing he was crying. It utterly broke his heart.
"You're so stupid." Jimin cried, stuffing his face deeper into Taehyung's shirt as he desperately tried to conceal his puffy face. "I'm sorry I yelled at you, but did you have to avoid me for a week?"
Jimin's voice came out weak, a sense of ache in it. Taehyung frowned. His heart stung so much at the idea that he had caused so much pain to his best friend. If only he had spent a little more time thinking about whether or not he deserved his space to think things through, if it meant hurting the Park sibling's feelings in return.
