The boys were set to perform in Manchester, so after breakfast we immediately got back on the road. Alex was right. I was going to regret saying that, but not because he was going to make me, but I felt guilty for what I had said to him the past night.
He continued his little pranks and ignoring me otherwise. He hid my mascara, then the rest of my makeup. I found him actually using my lipstick and trying it out on himself. The nude shade perfectly applied, perfectly accentuating his lips. It made me remember our little kiss, although it had been anything but little. His lips looked even bigger with the light brown shade. He puckered his lips at me from the mirror.
"Simmer down darling," I teased.
He then proceeded to chase me round the bus kissing at me. Similar to how small children do at the park when the worry in life was cooties. We were both laughing our arses off and eventually Matt joined him in the chasing game. Trying to kiss me.
When we arrived at the place of performance, they had warmed up in the dressing room and ran over the set list one last time before leaving for the main stage.
The order of songs was going to be, 505, I Wanna Be Yours, Black Treacle, Cornerstone, Do me a Favour, No Buses, Snap Out of It, and Crying lightning to finish it off.
Arctic Monkeys delivered had delivered another unbelievable performance. I loved it, they were super happy, and the audience had the time of their lives. Their charisma on stage was nothing short of brotherly.
Instead of going out afterwards like we had in Brighton; we decided to just have margaritas on the bus. Matt insisted that Alex was a master at making them. I guess I was to soon find out.
I left the table to check up on the "master". He started sniffling. The air between us had completely shifted. I placed a hand on his upper back and swiped my thumb up and down as a bit of reassurance. He somewhat winced at the contact.
"Al are you ok?" I questioned.
"Yeah I'm fine, allergies," he muttered. His words flew out like the barf of a kid on a speeding rollercoaster. He had choked on his words.
It was clear that it wasn't just your everyday seasonal allergies when I saw a tear roll down his cheek very slowly.
"Ale-" I attempt to speak before he cuts me off.
"Not right now Tenny," he growls through gritted teeth. I wasn't going to force it out of him. At least not right now.
I'd make sure to ask about it when his hand parted my curtains during the early morning hours. I hadn't touched his hand since I'd been told off by him. Or as he would say "learned your lesson".
It wasn't typically like me to care for him, but this situation felt totally different. I felt as though I was growing more sentient every day I'd spent with him. Alex rarely showed emotion, whether positive or negative. So for him to let out a tear had been quite a big deal.
When the sunlight hit my face I smiled as I saw his hand traced with veins and the same silver ring on the same finger. I lifted my body gently and began to draw figure eight's with my little finger on the palm of his hand.
As his hand started to move I climbed up to make sure I was level to his bed.
"Alex are you awake?" I faltered. He rolled over to face me with red puffy eyes. You could tell he'd been crying. He must've seen the look of surprise on my face because his face had fallen after the meeting of our eyes.
"What's going on with you?" I queried. He just kept eye contact while tears left his eyes and running down his cheek sideways.
I cupped his cheek and wiped away the tear with my thumb while tilting my head so our faces were on an even latitude. He flinched away and stared at me like a lost puppy. "Talk to me" I repeated.
"If you could fuck off that'd be great thanks," he whimpered as he rolled over once again, but back towards the wall this time. My own words used against me. Ouch.
