Chapter 6: The devil's sister and slips

Yasmeen: I need to show and tell you something

Manar: Okay, show me at break

I've been close friends with Yasmeen, Cheera, Jade and Jessie for a very long time. But before that, I used to hang out with a group of friends. They were bad and loud and they influenced me into becoming a bad person. I had fights with students, arguments with teachers and I've had so many reports. Not only did this affect my learning, this also affteceted my relationship with my family. Especially with my parent. Even I became so depressed because I thought would never change. But then I had a fight withone of my firends in the group and this led me to splitting up. Thats when I knew Yasmeen, Cheera, Jade and Jessie. We became close friends and because they were good, I became a good person and now I have had a dramatic improvment in my levels. My projected grades are mostly As and a few Bs. But without them, I would have gone hectic. But Yasmeen, Cheera, Jade and Jessie wasn't the only poeple in our friendship group. There was also Ramina. We were all one happy group until we noticed that Ramina was hanging out with another buch of girls. At first we thought that it was just 'hey, how are you?' and so on but then whenever we went to find Ramina, we saw that she was having lunch with the other girls which included Taslima, Tamina, Fatyma and Salima. She was spreading rumours about us and then one day when we confronted Ramina, she turned her back against us and got her mum involved. Her mum sent us threats and we had to tell our head of year. Then Ramina left the school unexpectedly without anyone knowing. The only message that she gave us was Snapchat; a photo of her new school uniform.

Once the performance was finished, I met up with Jessie and we both headed out to the Piazza.

"Did Yasmeen send you a text message?" I asked Jessie.

"No because I already know what happened. It has something to do with Ramina," she said.

"Tell me, please," I said begging. 

"First look outside," Jessie said pointing towards the door and when we left the theatre, I saw my whole class huddled together. When I said hi, they all looked at me and I saw Taslima holding out her phone.

"Guess what Asiya, Ramina blocked me from Instagram, Snapchat, BBM, and from anything she has me from and then she sent rumours around her new school about us. She is so two-faced!" Taslima said with a huff. I feel for her. Getting turned away was like a slap on the face.

"I'm sorry you guys gave your friendship to her and she threw it on the floor like Kleenex tissues. But how could she do that. Like, what human does that," I questioned.

"The devil's sister," said Jade and we all laughed. I don't care about Ramina. If she want's to be like that, game on!

Once the bell went, my friends and I walked to our tutor class. It felt awkward not being in my school uniform but I had Jessie with me.

"Bad man ting, you look sick with the timberlands and converse!" said Jade to Jessie and I.

"Yasmeen, could I quickly talk to you, in private," I said to Yasmeen and we quickly walked off to the toilets.

"What's wrong, Asiya,?" Yasmeen questioned. I had to ask her more about Ramina. And I also needed to know if she had any pictures of us.

"Jade, remember sports day. The whole school took the tube and we arrived at that big track park thingy. Umm, you see how Ramina was on her phone and she was with Taslima, Tamina, Salima and Fatyma yeah? I'm actually worried she took slips of us. Because that day, me and Monette went behid her and I saw pictures of us. But they weren't like selfies. They were real slips," I said anxiously.

"I thought I was the only one who noticed that. We stopped talking after we had the argument on BBM and then afterwards on sports day, Cheera, Jessie, Jade and I were looking for you because we brought us all an ice cream so we went looking for you. We then went past Ramina and her lot and we saw pictures. I think they were of us because we all wore our blue and white Nike Air Max to stand out. She wore her black Air Max just like Taslima, Tamina, Fatyma and Salima..."said Yasmeen. I was about to say somehting but Yasmeen came up with a conclusion.

"Remember on Whatsapp, us lot were talking and you know how we had to were our PE kits, yeah? She didn't reply when Jade and Cheera suggested us to were our blue air max. That was when Jessie asked her what happened and then Ramina never anwsered. Maybe it was because she was talking to her lot. She ignored us baiscally and then when I asked Noha and Seeham if they could talk on whatsapp to Ramina and they did. But guess what, Noha said Ramina replied and Seeham said that Ramina was talking about what they should wear and stuff. Seeham said that this was not non-school unform day and you should just stick to the your PE kit and but you can change your shoes and that's when Ramina gave attitude saying how they had no sense of fashion. But even you know Asiya, Seeham was like the Queen of Nike. She nearly had everything from Nike and Ramina only had the black Air Max and Forces." said Yasmeen. I started to realise everything. Not only did Ramina turn against everyone, she used Taslima's friendship as an advantage to pay her back. For what? Nothing. She has no feelings for anyone but herself. And she finds it okay to hurt others. 

What is wrong with this society?
