11 January 2011, Tuesday

I should have been mildly happy when I got out of bed this morning, because:

1. Got 100 marks on my Geography test yesterday after only studying for around five minutes. Beat that, -insert name of people in the class top five here-! World Geography is much easier than Chinese Geography, especially North America. I've read so many American books it would be hard not to know about their basic geography.

2. I got a new book, The Hunger Games, from the library, to read today.

3. Someone gave my Bionicle fanfic "Mission Accomplished?" a good review (if a one-liner) and added it to their favorites list!

4. I got 96 on my music worksheet, which is almost definitely the highest in class! Yay! The time I spent on it wasn't wasted after all!

Well, that didn't work. Getting up early manages to wipe out most traces of happiness in me.

We have two periods of exams today, the first being Physics (electricity). I got 83; not good, but better than I expected, seeing as I didn't manage to review it properly yesterday.

Next period was still Science (and there was a Math paper too. But as our math teacher is hopelessly addicted to throwing exam papers at us, we usually just ignore it and wait for when it's actually Math class to finish it), but this time round it was the revision for the entire syllabus of the eighth grade. Horrible. I finished it quickly in twenty minutes or so, then started revising for the History topical test during the second period (our History teacher is very scary. And really strict. But her methods actually work, so I'm not complaining).

It turned out that I only got 78 on the Science test. Double-damn it.

The weather is horribly cold today, only about 10 degrees Celsius (I live in a sub-tropical area, so that is already freezing for us).

After that, of course, I had to keep reviewing history. Luckily, the chapter I'm reviewing is easy (cultural development in the 19th century), and I got full marks. I actually quite like World History, since I've heard a lot of it before, as opposed to Chinese History, which I knew nothing about (you'll notice that I no not particularly like Chinese Social Studies).

During the twenty-minute break, I, as usual, ignored the exercise that we were supposed to be doing (no-one does that anymore, there's just music overlaid with 'Head turn, one, two three four...Wrists and ankles, one, two, three, four...Like we're going to waste time on the pointless stretching exercises) and went to the library to find Alice. Jenny (she's in class 911, and on pretty bad terms with her whole class, so she often sticks around us) had come all the way from the fifth floor (the library's on the 1st floor) to bug us. Well, not exactly bug us, but it sometimes feels like it.

It turned out that someone had reported to the school that people were eating lunch in the library, so we have to find another place outside when it's raining to eat. Me and Alice wanted to go to the courtyard in B1, but Jenny refused to entertain the idea since she would then have to go down six floors. But what's one extra floor when there's already five?

The winners for the photography contest during the trip to the Floral Expo were out: Tiffany got first place! We're all so happy for her. The winning photos are on a stand on the corridor outside the Student Affairs office.

Third period was Chinese. We had a definition test and a big one on Chapter 4. I did pretty well on both of them.

I got summoned to the form teachers' office by our form teacher Miss Chen (our English teacher. I'm her helper). I had to write the answer to the sentences on a recent homework paper on the blackboard. There was quite a lot, but halfway through (I do not enjoy writing on the blackboard, due to my short height. It always makes my arms ache, and my handwriting isn't even very good), Ann offered to write it. I, of course, accepted her help gratefully.
