For some strange reason, today took a lot of words to record. This is my FIRST chapter to pass the 3,000 words mark! I know, three cheers for me, etc. etc...
Enjoy, for I don't know how long I can keep this up!
24 February 2011, Thursday
Yeah, I know, I ended up updating just as frequently this week, but that's because I stole the laptop that Dad lets us use and hid it under my pillow. Its battery can only last a few hours, so don't expect it to keep up (I'd have to sneak the charging cord into my room too…wait, I've already did that!) for too long. I might not be able to pull this off again next week.
Of course, I was barely conscious during the morning test, so I tried my very best to finish the Chinese paper as fast as I could. I finished it in half an hour, so at least I got in ten minutes of sleep. I did okay on it, too: 85. As long as I get over eighty, I'm happy. If not…
For first period Science, we looked over the mock questions first. Half of the time I wasn't listening, but I didn't fall asleep either. When we were done with that, relatively quickly, we started to do some problems in the exercise book. There is an insane amount of formulas that we have to learn by heart, and I haven't managed to get them all straightened out yet! Gods, this is when I hate Science.
Oh, I suppose I should disclose how many questions I got wrong for my mocks: twenty-one. It is an improvement from last time (32), but it's not good enough yet. I guess I'll have to keep studying hard.
Luckily, we had a test in English, which was up next. It felt like I'd only fallen asleep when we had to get up and mark the paper, though. Very irritating.
Back to usual, I went to the library to hang out with Alice and Yvonne. We ended up criticizing the Ministry of Education for most of the twenty minutes.
In short, they have too much spare time on their hands, and therefore commence to make our lives even more hellish than they already are, by changing a lot of things that they really shouldn't have. Mostly regarding our way of getting into high school. And they seem terribly fond of changing the pronunciations of random words from the normal, nice-sounding ones to another pronunciation that sounds really unnatural and awkward. They really do suck, but I'm not feeling up to listing everything bad that they've done right now. Maybe some other time.
Around ten minutes of third-period Math was spent listening to Mr. Xu tell us things about the BCs. It's usually very interesting, and of course, the more he talks, the less we have to listen to Math. We're doing quadratic functions and parabolas now (I just had to look the English terms up on the Net. They sound much easier in Chinese, actually. Less like horrible Math terms), and Mr. Xu insisted on giving us a small topical test every single period. Yeah, he simplyloves giving us tests, but I'm not complaining (much, anyway) because his method actually works. At least for me.
Unusually, Yvonne turned up during the break after the third period too. Alice showed us her nails, which she had painted very badly with beige nail polish this morning. She said that it was fun, and it made her feel good. Well, whatever floats her boat. I prefer transparent nail varnish, myself.
Yvonne told us that Christopher had just gotten very angry with her. For a ridiculous reason, to me, at least.
Let's see. He'd asked Yvonne if he could borrow her cell phone to play games on during Science class. She said yes, but then went to the toilet and forgot all about it (her memory is not particularly good). So, when Science was done, Christopher found her and told her angrily that "If you don't like me, you can just say it! You don't have to be like that."
