Chapter 2

The bell hasn't ring yet, so we headed to the picnic tables outside.

You know how when you're watching an american teen movie and it has that default school? From the architecture down to the school board and students? Riverside High was no different. The bald math teacher, the "crazy" arts teacher, the round PE teacher. The cheerleaders hanging out, the music club checking their instruments, the crackheads smoking in a corner. That kind of suff. You'd think the movies are based of this school.

"Hello, ladies."

I recognize the voice immediately: Isaac. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure the whole school would recognize it. I mean, he's one of the most popular guys at school being the basketball team's captain and all. Most people swoon over him but I just don't get it. He's so... blonde. Yeah, he's handsome but not my type. The twins look exactly like him except, we'll, in girl version. Same eyes, same hair, same nose and chin.

With him, his best friends and twins boyfriends, Chase and Felix. You rarely see these three separately. They're usually together. Isaac and Chase have been friends since primary school. Felix only joined them in 8th grade after a school project they had to do together. They've been inseparable since.

They sit on the table with us.

"Hey blondie, you single?" Winter and Chase have been dating for almost 3 years now and they've known each other ever since they were children. Even so, Chase has been saying this to her every single day for five years now. Every time he does so, she just laughs and gives him a kiss. Just like now.

"How did you sleep, princess?" Felix says as he gives Summer a forehead kiss. Summer smiles at him. A huge grin on her face. She's not too fond of pda so when there are people around they mostly stick to holding hands.

"You guys are adorable, really, but I'm too single to handle it." I say as I fake a faint.

"Stop complaining, you weirdo. It's not because of lack of candidates, they're not that many but they exist. You just don't have a boyfriend because you turn them down. Besides, you're not the only single person here, I'm single too baby." I can't really argue with that. Anna's not wrong. But I mean, it's not my fault if they're not my type. I'm not sure what my type is but I know who isn't. The only guy I've ever liked is literally an ocean away. And I haven't heard of him in 5 years.

"I can change your status from single to taken in seconds, cupcake. Just say the word and I'm here." I burst out laughing when Anna starts blushing. Isaac's been doing this since last year. At first I thought "he's just flirty". But then I realized that he only does that with my cousin. So I'm pretty sure he likes her. Anna likes him, so it would be perfect.

"Careful, pretty boy. I don't mind if you date her, but if you try anything funny, just be aware that I know several ways of breaking legs. And necks."

Isaac lifts his arms in surrender and smirks. I roll my eyes.

"Finally! Last week of senior year. I couldn't handle Mr Adams' nagging anymore." Mr Adams is Chase's math teacher and neither of them are fond of the other.

"Good for you, we'll still have him next year."

"Sucks to be you, child."

"I swear I'll b-"

"That's enough guys!" I still don't know how Felix hangs out with us. Sometimes we look like animals at the zoo but he's always so calm. "Moving on... Anna's birthday is Thursday, the party is on Saturday and summer vacations start next week. What are you guys doing all summer?"

"We're going to a summer camp for a month and no Chase, you're not invited, the camp is for girls only."

"But blondie! A month is too long... Can't you stay with your wonderful boyfriend who's going to college in Fall?"

"What are you on about? We have plans too and you know it." Isaac's right. We've had this conversation before. "There's going to be a BOYS camp and we're going, you idiot."

"Besides, we still have time before and after camp. The camp is two weeks away and it's not like we'll be away the whole summer."

*bell rings*

"See you guys later" We all get up and head to class.

Time flew by and without me noticing, it was Friday already. In the morning we had classes and in the afternoon we went to the skate park. We used to hangout there all the time when we were kids.

On saturday, Anna threw a huge party at the house. Her parents went away on a trip this morning so she's staying with us for the time being.

People dancing everywhere, lots of drinks and food. When the cake arrived, she started opening the presents, she was so happy!

"It's time for my present." Isaac stepped forward with a blue velvet box in his hands.

"You got me a present? That's so sweet of you!" Anna opened the box and inside there was a golden bracelet with a blue stone in the shape of an heart.

"Isaac! It's gorgeous! I love it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" And to everyone's surprise, she grabs his face and kisses him. Never would I ever think my shy cousin would make the first move. You go girl! And to add to our shock, Isaac blushes. BLUSHES!

"H- Happy birthday, cupcake!"

"Thank you so much!"

"Never thought there'd come the day where I'd see the great Isaac Sparks blushing." My father teases and we all laugh.

"Such a sweet present indeed, don't you think so Anna?" Now I tease. Like father, like daughter.

Anna just blushes and Isaac hugs her.

They looked so happy, but I felt a huge pain in my heart. I started to remember him again. I felt sick so I went to my room. I close the door and lay on the bed. Tears falling down my face. Why am I so sad? I keep crying and ended up falling asleep.
And that's how I spent sunday in bed.

From Monday to Friday, I hung out with the girls: we went shopping, to the movies, we packed our bags, we went skateboarding and all that stuff. We also had some outings with the guys (Chase said he couldn't handle being away from Winter for that long). On the weekend we went bowling and watched the sunset at the beach. Things were always fun with them around.
On Sunday the twins stayed the night so we could all leave together in the morning. The guys did the same since they were leaving too.

Monday morning

We were in my room picking up the bags, when we heard my mom calling us downstairs.

"It's time to go girls!"

My mom was going to drive us the the camp. She didn't like much the idea of us going camping a whole month away from home, but we promised we would take care of each other.

It was a three hour ride but it was totally worth it. The camp was really famous for its activities and we almost didn't got any entrances. Besides, even the trip was fun with all of us singing out loud, along with the radio. Even my mom gave us a show. When we got there, my mom started her "speech".

"Remember: don't do drugs, if you drink, make sure I don't find out and no broken bones."

"Yes, ma'am!" We say in choir.

"You are all grown up now and I trust you all. Now go and have fun girls! You deserve it."

We all smiled at her and hugged her. She was really happy.
We took our bags out of the trunk and got in the camp. Parents weren't allowed in so we said our goodbyes to my mom and walked inside.

"This place is huge!"
"It's even better than the pictures!"
"Wow! This is going to be so much fun!"
"Let's get this party started!"
