the cover up

Spencer had just seen Olivia crash into the back of the car and then heard the one thing that could make the situation worse than it already was. Olivia had started drinking. Spencer was so lost in his thoughts. Full of emotions and questions. He was mad that he hasn't noticed Olivia drinking. How could he have missed the signs. He was worried that Olivia was going to suffer for the crash after it was his idea to pull over. However, none of that mattered, he knew what he had to ultimately decide. Was he going to cover up for Olivia and help her get through this on his own while lying to everyone he cared about or was he going to remain in the passenger seat and let her feel betrayed and hurt but be honest. He snapped out of his thoughts when the police sirens had became louder as they had gotten closer. Without giving it as second thought, Spencer unbuckled himself and jumped into the drivers seat while Olivia squeezed her way past him and replaced him in the passengers seat. She sighed with relief that Spence had taken the fall. She never wanted this to happen but it was the only way that she wouldn't be further punished for crashing while drunk. She muttered a quick thank you before putting her seatbelt on ready to be questioned.

"Excuse me sir, can you step out of the vehicle?", the officer asked Spencer. He did as he was asked and opened the door to release himself from the scene. "Can you also excuse yourself ma'am." "Of course.", Olivia responded while unbuckling herself and leaving the car. Spencer and Olivia were both stood side by side as they answered a series of questions regarding the crash. "What are your names?" "Spencer James." "Olivia Baker." "Okay Spencer and Olivia i'm going to need you to tell me what happened exactly but before i do, do any of you need to be checked by a doctor?", the policeman inquired.
"no", Spencer and Olivia answered at the same time.
"Well in that case i suggest you both call your parent and let them know you are going to be headed to the police station to answer a few questions. I would do it here but the car damage is severe and we can't find  the owner of the vehicle so your going to have to come with us." Olivia pulled out her phone and nodded at Spencer to signal everything was going to be okay. "Hey mom", Olivia said as her mom answered the phone. "Hey liv, are you okay? Your voice is really shaky." "Um we were in a car accident." "Oh my, are you okay? What happened? Where are you and what do you mean by we?", Laura asked with a change of tone in her voice. She was clearly concerned. "Yes we're okay. We accidentally crashed into a car a few minutes ago and we are on the way to the police station. Me and Spencer were both in the car. I need to go but can you come to the station and let Spencer's mom know?" "Of course and i'll be there asap." "I love you mom." "I love you too Olivia. Everything is going to be okay." She hung up the phone before she was bombarded with any more questions.

"Are you both ready to go." Once again they were synchronised as we nodded our heads. The car ride to the station was tense. Spencer had no idea had to feel about what just happened. He was over the moon with Olivia finally saying she loved him back and then he was distraught at the thought that she had crashed the car and was drinking again. He began to question weather switching seats with her was really a good idea. They both sat down on the chairs and were prepared to answer the questions coming their way. "So what happened exactly", he directed the question at Spencer since he was the one who was 'driving.' He was unsure of what to say at first but then he was calmed when he felt Olivia's hands interlace with his. "We were on our way back home and i didn't see the car parked there because it was so dark so i accidentally crashed into it. I'm so sorry." "Well we were able to locate the owner on the way over and they were just driving through and had a quick pit stop to pick up some food. Luckily they weren't willing to press charges so you are free to go right after you take a test to ensure that it had nothing to do with the state you may have been in." "Okay sure, i'll take it right now." Just as the officer had came back to hand Spencer the drug test, two concerned nuns had barged into the station. Grace and Laura instantly ran to their kids and gave them hugs. They both glanced at each other quickly before returning their attention back to their moms." "Mom i'm okay really. I just need to take a test and it will all be over", Spencer looked at his mom with a reassuring expression. She wiped away his tears and allows the officer to hand him the test. "So you are going to follow Officer Carl into this room without any belongings and we will let you leave after your test results come back. Don't worry we have a very advanced system so you should be going home tonight. Negative results arrive quicker so hopefully it won't take too long." Spencer followed Carl into the room but looked back int he way to look at Olivia.
