(Perrie's pov)
I woke up with my mind racing.
I groaned looking at the clock, it was 3 in the morning.
Way too early to be awake.
I got up and made my way to the bathroom before going to the kitchen to get some water.
When I turned around though I saw Jade standing there.
I jumped slightly before speaking up "Did I wake you? Sorry."
"No. It's fine. Don't apologize. Why are you awake?" She asked, stifling a yawn and I couldn't help but chuckle.
I'm okay. You don't need to worry. I'm fine." I insisted.
She looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Honestly. I'm okay, Jade. You should get some rest, come on." I said, placing my hand on her back to lead her upstairs.
"You're absolutely sure, you're feeling okay?" Jade yawned as she climbed into bed.
"Yes Jade. I'm not your constant responsibility, you know?" I smiled slightly.
"Okay." She murmured, as she fell asleep. "Nanite Pez."
"Night Jadey." I smiled another small smile at her relaxed expression. I shouldn't make her feel like she has to protect me all the time because although I appreciate her concern, I feel like she should have time to relax without having to worry about me.
(Later on)
I woke from another nightmare to see Jade standing over me.
"Perrie?"
"Hm yeah?" I mumbled, forcing myself to open my eyes again.
"I got you breakfast." She smiled and I chuckled slightly.
"Jadey you need to stop. I could get used to this." I gestured to the tray.
"Yeah, yeah." We both knew she wasn't going to stop while she was still here. "Anyway, you okay? I heard some weird noises coming from your room."
"Yeah, I guess. Just another nightmare. But Jade?"
"Hmm?"
"What do you think would've happened if Leigh went straight home that night? She could've gone home straight after work but she came to mine to cuddle and watch movies. If she'd gone straight to her house...do you think she'd still...be here?"
Jade sighed and sat on the side of my bed.
"I honestly don't know, Perrie. Maybe, maybe not. But there's no use wondering about it now. What happened, sadly happened and that's why I'm here, but I honestly have no idea if everything that happened that night could've been avoided.
"But she always said-"
"Everything happens for a reason, I know. There could be a chance that it did, or maybe it was just an extremely sad incident."
"Neither of those are any good." I muttered.
"I know." She sighed and looked down for a moment.
I'd never seen her like this. Even since Leigh's death she's never seemed this sad. She'd always been the one to cheer us all up and comfort us.
Maybe this was how she felt about it when no one was around.
I was about to ask her if she was okay when I heard little sniffling noises coming from her small frame. She was crying.
I pulled her into a hug and let her cry on me for once.
After a few moments she pulled away.
"I'm sorry." She sniffed, wiping her eyes.
