"You never came to the room so I'm assuming it's all settled with him."

"The priestess will be up sometime today to check on him and the baby, and say the words over us to mate us. Will you be there?"

"Sure. Let me know when. I can verify to father that you've lost your mind." I start to leave but he clears his throat. "I... I assume the baby is alright? He's not had trouble or anything?"

"No. He's been doing just fine."

"Good." he says and goes back to eating. At least it was something. Altair was up and in a heavy robe and pants when I got back. He sat and ate with me then told me some about his family. As lunch arrived with Anise so did the Priestess. She had Altair lay on the bed so she could check on his health and the baby.

"You are progressing well highness. I do believe that you may be having twins." I stared at her. Altair was surprised as well.

"Are you sure?"

"No, but I think it may be possible. I believe I hear two heart beats. I would prepare for the possibility. Have the two of you discussed mating?" I helped Altair to sit up. He nodded.

"We have, will you say the prayer for us?"

"Of course. Are you ready now?"

"I'd like to retrieve my brother as witness for my family." she nods.

"Anise will you find Bruce please." Altair asks. She scurried off and came back with him in tow. Bruce just nodded. I didn't understand elvish so I just listened for what seemed like a very long time then she dipped her finger in water spread it over my forehead and Altairs.

"I wish you both every happiness." she just turns and leaves. Bruce snorts.

"So, since we're family now. Tell me something about yourself." Bruce says dropping into a chair that creaked under his weight." the rest of the day we caught him up on what I'd been learning about. As dinner arrived Bruce was shaking his head.

"Only you'd find a prince in a back room. I'll add that to the letter I was writing dad. I'll have it taken out to him when we leave tomorrow."

"So Bruce, are you mated?" Altair asks.

"No. Of us only our sister is mated."

"I never asked who is older you or Orin?"

"Orin is the eldest, I am next then our sister. Bess is mated and has two boys. She was always his favorite. I knew who he'd left behind was special when he wouldn't even share with her. He kept knowledge of you to himself and so, kept it safe from being spat on by our father. But you know brother, with you mated. It'll be me that mother starts badgering about getting mated now."

"You've no interest in a mate?" Altair asks.

"I've yet to meet a female who inspires me to want to mate." I listened to Bruce shy from mating while Altair teased him about mating with an Elf on this visit.

When we woke in the morning Altair was dressed in his robe and a heavy fur cloak.

"I didn't know ice Elves wore furs." I say helping him down the stairs to the front of the Inn.

"They don't normally. We are made of winter so winter does not bother us. The priestess pointed out that our child is only half Elf so needed to be sure to keep them warmer." out front I found two dozen Elven guard around two sleighs. In one sleigh was the priestess and Anise.

"There is room for you Bruce if you would like to ride with Anise." Altair tells him.

"Uh, I think I'll just run along behind the guard."
