Ariana felt like she had been running for ages. Her lungs were burning as she gasped for air, but she couldn't stop now, so she continued to run through the trees, her shoes smacking against the damp soil of the forest. She would pass out soon if she didn't stop. She thought about her choices as she ran, turning around a tree thinking she was safe and that is when she felt icy fingers covering her mouth and preventing her from moving. The cold voice whispered in her ear "don't scream my beautiful no one can hear you out here" their warm breath tickled her neck as they continued to hold her.

That is when she jolted awake, breathing heavily. Her eyes scanned warily around her room for a moment before she averted her gaze down to her pale, skinny arms. Tears were beginning to form in her bright green eyes as she slowly traced the red scars on her arm. 'If only I had stepped out from behind that tree. If I would have been the one, she would still be here.' Ariana thought as more tears poured down her face. She moved her big green eyes towards the digital clock on the side of her bed and frowned when she realized it was 9:00 am. She cursed under her breath for a moment as her step-mother walked into her room. "Time to get up, brat!" She yelled loudly. Ariana shoots a glare at her before shoving her arms under the soft blanket to cover the scars. Her step-mother smirked as Ariana yawned, "What can't get to sleep fast enough?" She said with a wicked laugh before sashaying out of the room. Ariana frowned, but her step-mom was right. She was awake until the early hours of 4:00 am before finally falling asleep. She rolled out of bed and stumbled over to her closet, pulling it open. She peered inside before grabbing a simple black sweatshirt as well as some black sweatpants. A small glint of silver metal caught her eye and she stared at the small razor blade for a moment before hearing her step-mother yelling again from downstairs.

Ariana, her step-mother, and her father had all moved almost right away after the 'accident.' Her father left at 7:00 am for work every morning, so Ari was always stuck at home with her horrid step-mom.

She tore her eyes away from the blade and quickly slipped the sweatshirt over her shoulders. Her wrists ached to be scratched, cut, torn anything to get her mind off of her life. She closed her eyes for a moment and held her breath as she slowly brought her hands to the back of her neck and started to tear at the already red, scratched skin. She could feel the blood bubbling up and covering the old, dry, crusty blood from the day before. She winced slightly as the skin peeled back and the blood continued to bubble out quickly, but she didn't care. She brought her hand away from her neck once she heard her step-mother yelling again. Ariana hurried down the steps three at a time and plopped down on the couch not wanting to get into trouble, but at the same time not really caring. "Oh...you're here.." Her step-mother snarled once her eyes had scanned the family room. Ariana pulled the hood of the black sweatshirt over her strawberry blonde hair and frowned, staring into nothingness with no feeling at all. She was numb. She felt nothing at all.

"Well get up, stop being a lazy bum." Her step-mother said as she disappeared into the bathroom to apply heavy makeup. A frown was plastered on Ariana's face as she glanced at her phone. She had many notifications, missed calls, texts, and snaps from her friends. She didn't look at any of them. She always thought she felt like a burden to her friends and she hated feeling like she was shoving her problems onto them, so she just slowly began to stop speaking to them. It really hurt her because she knew she was losing friends and she knew that no one cared about her because nothing helped. Ever since she had lost her Sister everything was so hard and she felt the guilt like a heavy brick on her back 24/7. She stood up and grabbed her car keys, then slipped out the door silently.

Ariana got into the black SUV that she had and drove off. She had no idea where she was going and had no specific destination either. She just drove forward, taking a random turn every so often as tears streamed down her face. She hit her head on the steering wheel in annoyance with a loud thunk causing the horn to go off. She jumped slightly and looked up. For some reason, she had driven to her friend Rayden's house. She stared at the light blue-colored siding of the big house and let out a sigh before deciding to get out of the car. She slowly walked up to the door and with a shaky hand, knocked. Rayden answered and immediately pulled Ariana into a hug. "Ari...I missed you. Are you alright? I care about you and I am scared.." She rambled on into a thousand questions. Ariana just answered with, "I am fine." Rayden pulled away with her hands on Ariana's shoulders, staring deep into her eyes. She pulled her into another tight hug as she mumbled into her shoulder. "I know you are not fine." Ariana broke down into a puddle of tears as she slowly hugged Rayden back. "I.." That is all she managed to get out before Rayden spoke again. "Why haven't you been answering me? I have been so scared and I miss you.." Ariana sighed as she pulled away from Rayden. "I..." She paused for a moment before speaking again. " I...have to go...." She mumbled quietly before running off in the opposite direction. Rayden ran after her, yelling her name in a shaky voice as tears began to run down her face.

Ariana didn't look back and continued running. She ran still having no idea exactly where she was going until she ended up on the roof of a tall building. She ran to the edge and just stared down at the ground many stories below. She started shaking like crazy before she spoke quietly. "I...I am coming, Evelyn. I am coming.." Is all she said before she stepped off of the roof and fell. The wind whipped around her and she felt like she was falling in slow motion. The last thing she thought she saw before a warm hand grabbed onto hers and started to pull her through an open window, was her sister. Evelyn. She thought she also heard her say. "Don't do this Ariana, people care about you and I will always be with you. Even if I am not physically standing in front of you. I know you are strong." before everything went black.
