The nurse was sitting at her computer typing away at the keys, not even glancing back at the girl laying silently on the hospital bed behind her. She didn't think she had to, she hadn't expected the girl to wake from the coma yet. There was a slightly inaudible mumbling from behind the nurse, but she didn't turn around. The words "Evelyn." Left the girl on the hospital bed's lips. The nurse automatically turned around with a slight gasp and jumped up from her chair causing it to fall backward onto the floor. She ran over to the girls' bedside and stared at her in anticipation. The girl shifted slightly and her strawberry blonde hair fell into her face as her bright green eyes slowly fluttered open. Ariana groaned slightly and tried to sit up, but all the medical cords were restricting her from sitting up fully. She fell back onto the hard bed with a thump and let out another groan. A few more doctors and nurses crowded into the room and the air started to get hot. There were people standing at every inch of the bed and Ari was starting to have trouble breathing. She hated being around a bunch of people or even a few and she just wanted to be alone. She wanted them all to leave, but when she tried to speak no words came out.

As she laid there her head started to feel heavy and she shut her eyes, lying back down onto the stiff pillow. Only one person noticed this and it wasn't any of the nurses or doctors, a voice erupted from the door and Ariana opened her eyes to become face-to-face with the one person she wasn't in the mood to see. Damian Campbell. The blonde-haired boy had teased and bullied her since as early as 4th grade. Ariana frowned as she stared into his blue eyes. "I...I'm not in the mood.." She mumbled and pulled her gaze away from his. He continued to stare at her, not moving his eyes as a small smirk appeared on his thin lips. The hairs on the back of Ariana's neck rose as she felt his eyes burning into the back of her head. She slowly averted her gaze from the squirrel nibbling an acorn outside the window and turned to look at him. "What?" She breathed out, shooting him a glare that only caused his smirk to grow wider. Damian didn't speak for a moment and just let out a soft chuckle as he turned to leave. The doctors and nurses hadn't listened to Damian and were still crowding around Ariana. "Fine. You can stay.." She said quickly before her mind could even comprehend the words that were leaving her lips. Damian stopped in his tracks and didn't turn around, but the smirk was still plastered on his lips and a glint of hope was in his eyes. Ariana didn't speak for a few minutes and Damian ended up turning towards her. He noticed the scars on her arms and his smile faltered for a second, turning into a slight frown. "Why?" That is all he said as he gestured to the red cuts crisscrossed on her wrists. Ariana looked up at him quizzically not understanding what he meant. "Why did you do that..to yourself. Your arms?" He didn't even try to hide the frown on his face.

Ariana glanced down at her arms and just sighed, furrowing her eyebrows together. 'Why did he care if I cut myself?' The words swam through her mind again and again. "I..." She manages to say before he cuts her off by taking her wrist gently into his pale hand. He squints his eyes together as he studies the scars. "I'm sorry." He says quietly and Ariana just stares at him with wide eyes. "What?" She replies as she glances up at his pale, lake blue eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I bullied you all those years. I was an immature boy and I didn't know how to talk to you...I was scared." Ariana blinked, "You were scared...I..what?" She asked, still terribly confused. "I like you, alright. Heck....I might even love you and you hated me, so I didn't know how to approach you. I never thought you would feel the same so I tried to hide my feelings. I..." He looked down as a faint pink blush crept onto his pale cheeks. Ariana sat up on the bed, the best she could with her mouth dropped open. "Wait..wha-" She cuts herself off and looks away from him. Damian moved his gaze from the floor slowly and looked towards Ari. "I..know you don't like me back, so I should just go. But just please don't try to hurt yourself anymore." He said quietly as his eyes looked anywhere, but at Ariana.

Ariana goes slightly red as he says this, "Damian..I.." She trailed off, not entirely knowing how to finish her sentence. Damian looked up at her when she said his name. His real name, not some rude nickname. She had never called him by his first name before. Ariana sighs before turning away and continuing to speak. "Damian..I.." She pauses before continuing a moment later. "Thanks...for at least caring.." She mumbles staring at the ground, as suddenly all feelings of loathing left her heart.
