Y/N P.O.V
[Age: 10.]
I run up to the crowd on the road. The survey corp is back! I watched excitedly, pushing through the crowd to get a better view.

I watched as most were bloody, missing arms and limbs. My eyes widened in horror as people watched the soldiers in disappointment.

"They should just give up already..."

"I know, they're dying out there for nothing."

"Yeah, is this the crap are hard earned money goes to?"

"They're doing nothing for humanity..."

I saw the group of adults speak. They're wrong, they want to do this for humanity they're trying to find a way to make us push forward and they just don't know. I have hope! There's always hope!

I'm going to join them when I'm older! And I'm going to kill all titans! And help mama and papa!

I turned around, running off back home before mom notices I'm gone for too long.

[5 years later...]

I watched as my mother tiredly breastfeeds my newborn baby brother. He's only been alive for a couple of hours. And I love him to death already. It's just one more thing I'm going to fight for. I'm gonna fight for my new baby bother, Eren.

"Y/N, do you want to hold him?" My mother asked.

I nodded eagerly, taking him into my arms and smiled. Poking his nose the little guy takes a hold of my hand.

I promise you Eren, you won't have to worry about a thing when you're older.

"Mother." I called out, still carefully holding Eren.

"Yes, Y/N?"

"I know, you don't want to hear this. But I'm going to join the military."

My mom didn't look to pleased. I know she won't let me go. But, I must lie to her.

"Don't worry mother, I won't go into the survey corp."

Her face had one of relief after I said that. She looked at me. And smiled.

"Well then, I wish you luck. I love you Y/N be safe when you're out there. Have you already signed up?"

"Yes mama, dad helped me."

As if on queue, my father walked in. He leaned on the doorway.

"Can I hold Eren?"

I looked at my mom.

She nodded, I handed Eren to him. He looked at Eren for a moment. He smiled, I'm glad he did. He hasn't been smiling lately.

He's been somewhat frantic these couple of months, I hope everything is doing okay in his job.

"Y/N, are you sure you want to do this?" Mom asked, I nodded.

She sighed, my father patting her back. She hugged me, and moments after my father joined in.
