ೃ⁀➷𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗢𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗭𝗭𝗘𝗗 in her blazer pocket as y/n finished the remainder of the water in her bottle. she pulled out her phone and checked who was calling. it was haru. upon taking the call, y/n marched to the staff break room and used the duplicate pass shota had given her to enter.
she was immediately greeted by one of her favourite teachers and friends, nemuri kayama also known as midnight. "hey, y/n! come for more clothes advice?" the dark purple haired woman asked, standing from her seat.
"not today." y/n reported, looking more serious than she normal did. this did not go unnoticed by midnight.
"what's going on?" nemuri questioned, becoming concerned.
"i just got news that my mother is sick." she reported, a frown present on her face. "i need to go see her now."
"l/n. you can't just leave school halfway through the day." aizawa interrupted, coming out of a door.
y/n's face flashed with urgency. "but she's sick! i need to make sure she's okay!" she glanced to nemuri for support.
"come on, shota." nemuri whined, giving a pleading look. "my little girl just wants to see her mom. she isn't going to miss any important lessons."
aizawa scowled, keeping a firm ground. "no."
"you're so mean, shota-san. my mother could be on her death bed right now." y/n crossed her arms, hardening her frown. "haru already prepared a plane to new york."
"new york?!" nemuri spluttered, nearly dropping her coffee. "why is she so far away?"
"modelling." y/n grumbled, unhappy she had to explain her questionable mother's actions. she put her hands together and pleaded once again. "please! it'll be super quick! and you two can come with me!"
"sure, i'll follow along!" nemuri exclaimed, immediately jumping up from her seat. she put her hands together and stood beside y/n. "come on, shota. show y/n just how much you love her!"
"fine." the black haired man stubbornly replied. "but i'll only take you to the airport. i have a class to teach. midnight will come with you."
"yay!" y/n and nemuri cheered at the same time, holding each other as they jumped excitedly.
"oi, don't get excited. this is strictly a business trip." shota complained, halting their celebrations.
midnight rolled her eyes, grinning. "we'll be sure not to enjoy ourselves too much, mr killjoy." she groaned, before turning to whisper into y/n's ear. "we're totally gonna enjoy ourselves."
. . .
midnight opened the apartment door, admiring the modern room as she wheeled in her suitcase. she slipped off her knee high boots and leaned against the wall with a sigh. "i knew the l/n's we're loaded but not like this!" she groaned, rubbing her forehead. "this place must cost more than ua!"
y/n lightly laughed, wheeling in her own luggage and turning on a heater. "i'm not entirely sure about that but it is quite big, i guess." she modestly admitted.
"don't be ridiculous, darling. this apartment costs more than what the average working person earns in five years." a voice laughed from another room. "but bragging isn't attractive, dear, so don't be like mother, hm?"
a tall woman appeared in room, her face laced with delicate hints of makeup while her natural beauty overshadowed it. she wore a white version of a business suit and constantly flicked her hair back as observed her daughter. "not that i'm not attractive. we all know that would be an unforgivable lie."
"mother! you're not in hospital?" y/n jumped at the sight of her parent eyeing her from another corner of the entrance.
"of course not. someone like me could never wear a drab hospital gown not even for two seconds." her mother paused before walking towards midnight and extending her hand. "good evening, i am aiya l/n. proud owner of the renowned l/n company and one of japan's most high earning businesswomen and models."
"hi! i'm nemuri kayama!" midnight happily greeted, shaking the woman's hand firmly. "you look stunning!"
"so do you, dear! you must be pro hero, midnight." the l/n chirped back happily.
"that's me!" midnight now looked confused. "but if you're not in hospital...then why are we here?"
aiya was looking at y/n now. "if i didn't pretend to be sick, my own daughter would never visit me. i even had to lie to haru." her mother smirked. "i know if i told him the truth he wouldn't lie to you. it's cute, how much he likes you."
y/n brushed aside the comments about haru, "well, since i'm here—" she stopped speaking as her mother's phone's ringtone filled the room.
"sorry, let me take this." her mother apologised, accepting the call and putting on her earpiece. she walked out of the room discussing something along the lines of the current stock market trends.
. . .
y/n rolled in her bed, shaking her head as nemuri sat on the bed opposite her. the older woman took off a towel from her head and brushed hair. "the water pressure in there is great." she said, noticing how silent the room was.
"i'm glad you like it." y/n bluntly replied, not looking at midnight. instead, she fluffed the already fluffy pillows on her bed.
"you're mother doesn't seem too..." she paused. "i mean, she didn't. alright, i'll stop."
"it's okay." y/n reassured her. "she's busy and it is completely fine. people have their own lives too, right?"
"but you should be part of that life." midnight argued, eyeing the clock. "maybe it's better we change the subject."
upon receiving no reply, midnight thought of something else the two of them could speak about. "so, what's up with your cute assistant?"
"what?"
"i've seen him waiting to pick you up after school. you can't tell me that you're not interested. "nemuri crossed her legs and smirked. "he's super cute."
y/n stuffed her face in her pillow and groaned loudly. "haru is just my assistant!"
"well, he looks like he wants to be something more than that—"
nemuri was cut off short by a spiteful glare. the older woman immediately shut up.
