Taehyung still stared at the silver smartphone on his right palm. His mind kept pondering about the conversation he just had with his soon-to-be parents-in-law.
"O-genki desuka, Taehyung-san?" A female voice called out to him.
He tried to calm his heart down. He always feels like this whenever he talks with his fiancé's parents. "Watashi wa genki desu." It was normal for him to talk in Japanese with his future parents-in-law. They couldn't speak Korean at all and it same goes for Taehyung's parents, they couldn't speak Japanese.
His fiancé thankfully was bilingual like him and fluently spoke in Korean. Conversation with both of each other's parents was easier and less difficult.
"Why do you call, okaasan?" He pursed his lips after asking the question.
"Has Maru told you about your visit with her over here? We will be discussing your wedding with my daughter, Taehyung-san."
Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows when he heard the sudden news from his fiancé's mom. His fiancé really hadn't told him about this and he could only assume that she was still busy with her work that she forgot to tell him. She was that kind of woman who was really dedicated to her job, a career woman indeed. Taehyung was proud of her work ethic and passion.
"No, she hasn't told me about this. I think she was busy at the moment to contact me as she told me some times ago that she has a huge project in her company and the head of that project is Maru herself."
A sigh could be heard from the other side and Taehyung knew that the old woman was disappointed with her daughter for not telling the news to her fiancée soon.
"It's okay, okaasan. Don't blame Maru for it. It isn't a big deal—"
He was abruptly cut off in his sentence by his future mother-in-law.
"Of course it's a big deal, Taehyung-san. This is about your wedding! I'll call her soon after I finish with you," she paused for a moment before continuing her talk again. "Now that you know about it, just contact Maru, okay? It's best if both of you talk face to face instead of using this gadget."
Taehyung exhaled softly through his nose before nodding his head yes lazily. He mentally rolled his eyes at Maru's mother for being too uptight regarding his wedding with her daughter.
"Hai, okaasan! See you soon." And with that, the phone call ended between them.
Honestly, Taehyung didn't know what to do now but he knew that he had to tell his fiancé about his feelings. It was complicated even for Taehyung himself but he didn't feel the same way again with her. It felt empty inside of him every time he looked at her. Her bright smile didn't manage to warm his heart and every little things that she does didn't make his heart beat painfully like it used to. He didn't know what happened or if he is going through a phase but what knew was he didn't want to commit to her for the rest of their lives with this devoid feeling and counterfeiting the act of love for her.
He sent a short message to Maru for a meetup and hopefully, the woman could make some time for today so Taehyung could finally let out what he had been hiding inside his chest.
Time flew by so fast and now Kim Taehyung was here at the place where they supposed to meet up.
His eyes caught sight of several people lingering at the café, busying their selves with something. It was the same café where they would hang out since they began a relationship. You could say that this café held many memories for Taehyung and also Maru. Taehyung exhaled softly through his nose when he remembered one specific memory where his fiancé spilled her own drink to the barista behind the counter because she was so excited to receive her favorite beverage. He chuckled lowly when he remembered her speechless face and even being frozen like a statue for 2 minutes. Luckily, Taehyung saved her before things get more embarrassing for her and the barista.
