Chapter 14: The red wine

"Is this where you always go?" Maw asked me when we landed on planet Xuvillon and I always go here to drink either for fun or to drink my troubles away.

"You can say that." I said as I got outside of my ship and so did Maw. He followed me all the way to the bar I know. When I opened inside, all of the people inside even the weird alien ones was looking not at me but the person behind me.

I walked towards the bar, not caring if they stare or not and Maw silently followed behind my footsteps.

"Akki." Jax greeted me and I nodded curtly.

"I see you've brought a friend." He eyed Maw who's behind me. Maw raised his eyebrow at him.

"Got grounded, squidward here is looking after me. Making sure I don't do anything stupid." I explained and he chuckled. He turned his back on me and started preparing what I usually order.

"Just give me the light one." Jax and his assistant both looked at me instantly, I could tell they were surprised even though they were keeping a poker face in front of Maw. Jax stared at me for a moment and then to Maw, who was only watching the both of us. Jax then gave a different glass rather than the one I usually drink from. I took a sip from the glass and I noticed it was just red wine, it was sweet and had a good taste when it hit my throat.

"Did that suit your taste? You come in here, drinking almost everything, tasting different kinds of alcohol. I still don't know what your taste for alcohol is." Jax started talking and I only nodded at him. I could still feel the stares behind us.

I stood up and Jax had a hint that I don't like people staring either at me or people around me, I finished the glass and set it aside the table. He knew I'll come back to drink another scotch from earth. I didn't hand him any money, Maw was watching me.

"Jax." I greeted him before walking away and Maw followed me again.

"That was quick." Maw broke the silence when we left the place and we're currently walking towards the ship.

"I don't believe that you only drink a glass and just leaving." Maw continued and I stopped at my tracks. I guess that's why his powers is telekinesis. I sighed at his comment.

"You got me. Don't tell him." I continued walking and he only rolled his eyes. We got on the ship and I prepared the engine, warming it up before leaving. After it was done, I turned on a little bit of music which is a device I got from my little trip to earth.

"What is that noise?" Maw asked with a hint of disgust coming from his tone.

"It's called music." I said and he went quiet. I could see from his eyes that he actually liked the music I was playing.

I was tired of my lady
We'd been together too long
Like a worn out recording
Of a favorite song

The song went on with me humming.

So while she lay there sleepin'
I read the paper in bed
And in the personal columns
There was this letter I read

"If you like piña coladas and gettin' caught in the rain. If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain. If you like makin' love at midnight in the dunes on the cape then I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me and escape." I started singing along with the song. Maw who only watched me.

"You did always have a voice for singing, my lady." Maw said and I smiled and then personally thanked him. The beat was so good that I danced to the rhythm, not really danced but swayed with the rhythm.

"Somehow whenever I feel like singing, you're always there. It's unusual. You don't go and tell Thanos about my singing right?" I asked and looked at him with my brow arched at him. He was silent for a moment.
