Chapter: 5

P.O.V. Merry

A few month had passed since, Merry joined Fleet Admiral Sengoku as his assistant and Merry had to admit it was nothing like she expected it to be. She followed Sengoku where ever he went and only watched. Sengoku would ask her to complete simple task such as delivery documents, taking care if his goat or just plain watching and learning the ways of the marines.

Merry expect that she would be learning how to fight pirates not taking care of a goat, not that she mind in fact, she was starting to like the goat. He was quiet and didn't get into trouble. Merry could only guess that the goat was used to being around humans and would just follow his master.

When Merry first arrived with Sengoku at the marines HQ, the marines there would just stare at her, wondering who she was. They gave her a uncomfortable feeling that Merry didn't like at all, Merry easily fixed that.

"Daze"

In matter of seconds, ever marine that were starring at her went to a deep sleep trance. Marine bodies were laying everywhere and the only one standing were Merry, the goat and Sengoku. Of course, Sengoku disapproved of her actions and strictly told her to undo it. After all the marines had awakened up, they stayed far away from her as possible. They knew that Merry was bad news but said nothing after Sengoku announced that Merry was his assistant.

That night, Sengoku gave Merry a huge lecture about using her abilities against marines and that she should never do that again.

Once the months passed, Merry had gotten used to the marines and vice versa. They no longer feared her but began to see her as a promising colleague. Merry stayed by Sengoku side learning and watching from behind him.

Merry couldn't wait to capture her first pirate but Sengoku always told her that she wasn't really yet and that she couldn't arrest anyone because she wasn't a Marine officer. That really disappointed her but Merry knew she should be patients and wait to capture a infamous pirates with a huge bounty.

Merry was currently at one of the marine headquarters in the south blue, with Sengoku at a meeting with the Celestial Dragons.

Merry didn't like the Celestial Dragons, she saw them as cruel and bullies that took joy in the misfortune of others. She never knew about them since she grew up in a marine training grounds all her life and never seen the outside world before. Her first impression of them wasn't the best, Merry felt like kicking them in the face, but Sengoku warned her, to never disrupt them or lay a hand against them.

Merry wasn't happy with that rule, of all the laws that Merry had to follow, that was something, Merry knew she was going to have trouble following. So she made up her mind to avoid them as much as possible. While Sengoku was at the meeting, Merry usually stayed outside by the door.

"Is fleet admiral, here" suddenly replied a marine, shocking Merry.

"Don't do that" replied Merry while in a fighting stand. "What do you want?"

"I have a special message that I need to deliver to him urgently"

"What message? Sengoku~san busy right now. You can leave it with me"

"Fine then" replied the marines as gave Merry the a envelope and left.

Merry waited by the door for a couple more minutes before the Celestial Dragons came out and left. With the Celestial Dragons gone, Merry entered the room where Sengoku was organized some papers work.

"Sengoku~san, there a special message that arrived"

"What is it?" Responded Sengoku without making an effort to make eye contact.

Merry put the envelope in front of his deck and after a few minutes he reach towards. Sengoku slowly open the letter and began to read. Judging from Sengoku face expression, what ever was said, wasn't good news.

"Something wrong, Sengoku~san?"

"It appears that Crocodile, has been defeated by Straw Hats Luffy. I need to set up a meeting with the rest of the Shichibuki to find someone that could replace him. With one shichibuki less, the World Government was low on allies."

"Really, so were going to be meeting with the Shichibuki" replied Merry without hiding her excitement. The Shichibuki really fascinated her, in a way that they were pirates and work for the World Government. Something that she never imagine happening and now she had a chance to meet all of them.

"Start packing some clothing, Merry were heading out in a tomorrow morning"

"Aye! Sengoku~san" replied Merry as she saluted and left to prepare for the next adventure.

P.O.V Sengoku

After Sengoku received news that the Shichibuki Crocodile have been defeated by some rookie pirates, he wasn't happy. That Straw hat Luffy was become a even bigger nuisance, he made the mistake of underestimating them but he knew better now.

He now had to meet with the rest of the Shichibuki. He didn't mind but this time he was bringing Merry along. He didn't how Merry would react to them, of anything he didn't want them to influence Merry and turn her into a pirate.

Merry had a qualities and personality of a pirate and that was what he feared. She didn't like following rules but she obeyed no less. She was reckless and most of all she was a pranker. Merry had a gift for fighting and combine with her devil fruit abilities.

He had no doubt that Merry will grow up to powerful fighter. He was lucky that he found her before a pirate could influence Merry to become a pirate herself. He had a chance to transform Merry into a powerful Marine Admiral and he wasn't going to let some pirates take her away from him.
