Writers POV
"Your Highness," came a deep shaky, male voice from behind.
"Let me guess, you haven't found her." He said it without glancing back.
"N-no Your Highness." Before the man could blink, he was pinned to the wall by his neck. Prince Aiden squeezing his neck like it was a stress ball,
"How did a girl despair under your nose? huh?" He asked, in an incredibly calm voice, that sent cold shivers down the man's spine. His eyes were blood-red mixed with gold yellow, indicating his beast was at bay.
"I-uh" His voice came out to be scrambled
"Who made you the head warrior again? And what's your job when you're at the border? Do remind me again, will you." Aiden said clenching his jaw. The head warrior tried to wiggle out of his strong grip, but it was in vain. He could not answer as his throat was being crushed.
"Did she just vanish in thin air?" He asked him again.
The head warrior was now gasping for air as his lungs were giving up, and his brain was becoming baffled by the lack of oxygen. Prince Aiden had put more and more pressure on his throat with each passing second. The head warrior was about to pass out when the office door of Prince Aiden was knocked. He didn't bother to respond, because his beast was hungry for blood.
"ANSWER ME!"
As Prince Aiden lets out an ear bulging growl, his office door flies open and walks through his Beta.
"No Alpha, you must let him go." He grabbed the hand of Prince Aiden, who was holding his head warriors' throat. Nick tried to take his Alpha hands off the warrior, Aiden turned to look at his Beta, his Beta swallowed hard by the look of his Alpha. He knew that if he didn't do something, the place would crash down. Nick just knew what he was going to do, he said,
"Please Alpha, try to understand what if they find Luna, and she's stepping here to see you like this? Crushing his head warrior's neck? That's not going to be a good first impression right now, would it be?" He was trying to say that the last line, with a tone of joke hopping, would lighten up his mood. And he was right, the eyes of Prince Aiden went back being blue with a little red and gold yellow mixed in them, and he removes his hand. Beta Nick sighed in relief, he did not expect his Alpha to calm down so quickly just by mentioning the girl.
The head warrior falls with a hard thud, trying to consume as much oxygen as he can while coughing. Beta Nick gives him a wave of hand telling him to leave, he nods and rushes out of the room like someone caught his tail on fire.
"You've got to try and keep your cool. It's not his fa..."
"Finish that sentence and you're not going to live to see the sunshine tomorrow," Aiden said in a threatening tone. Beta Nick tossed his arms in surrender. Prince Aiden walks behind his huge wooden desk and sits down, running his hands through his hair in frustration. As the Beta follows every move, he knows that his Alpha is on the verge of rampage and how bad the situation is for him. Which puts the whole kingdom in danger.
"I don't fucking understand! How did she just...disappear from a locked room!"
"Through the balcony!" Nick said that in an obvious way. Aiden glared at his Beta for his statement.
"My room is on the fourth floor of Nick! How did a human girl survive the fall? Please enlighten me with the explanation."
"Oh, yeah. You're right, man." He said touching his chin. Aiden turned to his chair and looked aimlessly into the woods. Upon the forest floor lie trees of yesteryear, fallen in storms long forgotten. The seasons have been harsh, stripping away the bark and outer layers, yet rendering them all the more beautiful. They have the appearance of driftwood, twisting in patterns that remind Aiden of seaside waves; even the colour of the moss is kelp-like. They are soft, damp! The pines are several houses tall, reaching toward the golden rays of spring. Birdsong comes in lulls and bursts, the silence and the singing working together as well as any improvised melody. His heart stopped beating so fast for a moment, and his beast forgot his desperation and blood lust.
