Our secret moments in a crowded room. They've got no idea about me and you. There is an indentation in the shape of you; made your mark on me, a golden tattoo." - 'Dress' by Taylor Swift
Dixie was awakened by her phone vibrating on her dresser. She was wrapped in Noah's arms, just as she had been the past few nights. She looked over at him admiring his handsome face deep in a dream. She tried to maneuver out of his grip without disturbing him, but he felt her absence and immediately reached out to yank her back.
"My phone is ringing Noah." He groaned and reluctantly loosened his grip. Dixie picked up her phone and saw "FaceTime Call: Curtis" scrolling across her screen. She grumbled as she showed Noah the screen.
"I mean we have to tell him at some point." Noah offered. Dixie's annoyed look screwed to a mischievous one. She shimmed back into the crook of his arm and snuggled into his chest. "Might as well give him a heart attack in the process." she giggled. Noah smiled as he caught on to her prank and started playing with her hair.
"Hey Curty!" Dixie yelled as her phone connected to the call. She held the phone so her and Noah's cuddling heads were both positioned in the shot as she lay on his bare chest. Curtis screamed and dropped his phone in shock. "What the fuck Curtis!" they heard Bryce scream in the background as Curtis scrambled to pick up his phone and run to a secure location, so he could ask his friends why they were acting more than friendly.
Dixie and Noah couldn't contain their laughter at his reaction. Curtis regained his composure and screamed into the phone "What are you two doing? Is this a joke?" Dixie turned her head to Noah and kissed him on the lips and re-faced the camera. "Does this look like a joke to you?" she shot back. Noah couldn't contain his laughter, he loved how Dixie was so fearless when it came to clapping back.
Curtis screamed again; it's not that he couldn't believe that they were together, he couldn't believe that they didn't tell them. So much for "Nuggies 4 ever." In the background Noah and Dixie heard Bryce open the door of the room Curtis had run off to.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Bryce asked loudly. "Oh, uh, um nothing!" Curtis scrambled to hide his phone from Bryce's prying eyes. "It's okay Curtis, Bryce knows." Noah yelled through the phone. Curtis froze and slowly returned his face to the camera. "Bryce...knew before ME?!" he ended his sentence in another scream.
Bryce started laughing realizing what was going on. "Oh yeah dude, what have you been living under a rock? Hey Dix and Noah." The two were laughing too hard to respond. Bryce closed the door leaving a shocked Curtis alone with his phone. "When did this happen?" Curtis demanded. "The night we went to Malibu." Noah responded running his hand up and down Dixie's side as they recovered from their laughing fit.
"You told me you didn't do anything!" Curtis yelled back. "That's because he didn't." Dixie responded matter of a factly. Noah rolled his eyes knowing what was coming next, she was never going to let this go. "I invited him over after and kissed him." Dixie smiled. "Okay, that makes more sense. You clearly wear the pants in this relationship." Curtis laughed.
Noah faked repulse at the suggestion and Dixie just smirked. "We aren't in a relationship." She responded with a shrug. "Looks like a relationship to me!" Curtis retorted. Noah squirmed not knowing what to say, it was all still so new. "We're besties." Dixie emphasized instantly calming Noah. Besties, he could do that for now.
"Okay well I was just calling to see if you wanted to leave this fantasy and join us in reality for a little birthday adventure tonight since the boys aren't invited to your actual party tomorrow." Curtis said sarcastically with an eye roll.
Dixie was having a small birthday dinner at her house with only her closest girlfriends. When she was planning it immediately after her break-up it was seemed like the best fit. She wasn't exactly planning to fall for her best friend in the two week time span that followed.
