"Create a song and melody on your own.." Namjoon trailed off into his own head space as Seokjin read out loud the explanation of the following school project.
He was sitting onto Seokjin's bed, in Seokjin's bedroom, in Seokjin's house and holding Seokjin's mug with hot blueberry tea Seokjin had previously made for them to drink.
Namjoon was going through a minor panic attack. He could not focus onto Seokjin's voice while he was burning on the inside like his whole body was set on fire. His face probably looked like a whole tomato.
Not to mention dozens od text messages he got from Taehyung before he arrived because the other was hyped about their small privacy moment. He came an hour early just in case he changed his mind, so he would have enough time to tell Seokjin he wasn't feeling well and cancel it. But doing that didn't mean he would escape the whole project.
He needed to do this in order to pass this year and finally say goodbye to those toxic insects going to the same school with him.
Who would have thought that Namjoon was going to be in Seokjin's room, spending time with him and working on a school project together. And the project couldn't be anything but music related, which needed time, lots of time to be completely good and audible.
Music wasn't something you could just make. You have to be one with the sound, have especially good hearing and just, be talented. Namjoon couldn't sing whatsoever, but he had talent to write good lyrics. And music. It was his dream to become an artist some day after all.
You need to love music.
And music was Namjoon's passion, besides playing video games.
"Earth to Namjoon," Seokjin snapped Namjoon out of his thoughts. Namjoon, feeling embarrassed enough, cleared his throat softly and apologized to him. No matter how nervous he was, he didn't want to come out rude or unprofessional. It was his time to shine in this project after all.
"I was asking if you've been in touch with anything music related at all. I'm pretty bad at making lyrics. At least I've never tried." Seokjin said, not breaking the eye contact with Namjoon.
"Um," Namjoon shifted onto the bed untill he found the right spot and crossed his legs one over another. Come on, relax, it will be fine. It's just Seokjin after all, just a human being, and you've been texting for a long time now. "I'm actually okay with the lyrics, i can take that part. We can figure out the melody later, when the lyrics is done completely. Can you sing?" Wow, Namjoon was shocked by how strong his voice came out to be.
Seokjin now broke the eye contact and looked around the room before he looked back at Namjoon. "I can't sing."
"Really?" Namjoon asked, surprised. Now they needed to come up with another idea. "Are you sure about that? We can adjust the voice volume for the song so it wouldn't be hard for you to sing. Can you sing something for me now?" Okay, Namjoon was definitely a professional in the music field.
"Now?" Seokjin gasped.
"Is there a problem?"
"I'm shy. I can't just sing out of the blue."
Namjoon was surprised by how good they went along with each other. Seokjin never looked at him or acted in a weird way which helped Namjoon relax a lot and stop thinking about the worst case scenarios. In fact, Seokjin behaved as if they were close friends.
Seokjin sighed and sat in the same position like Namjoon did, in front of him, and clapped his hands together. Without a single warning, he opened his mouth and started singing at the top of his lungs, a very beautiful song which Namjoon didn't know but god, Seokjin's voice was the most ethereal sound on this planet.
Namjoon could feel chills going up from his fingertips to the very tip of his hair. With mouth slightly parted, he watched the gorgeous male who had his eyes closed and who was leaning onto his knees.
Curse him, Namjoon felt the urge to just go ahead and feel those naturally plump, pink lips of his. He dreamed of kissing him for such a long time but heck, Namjoon could never gather up enough courage to do it. And it's not like Seokjin would be too happy about the kiss. He would probably end up kicking him out of the house.
Seokjin opened his eyes, evidently blushing after he had stopped singing. He didn't know what to say so he just scratched his cheek and looked away. He looked so pretty, so goddamn pretty it made Namjoon's heart squeeze inside his chest.
He was falling in love even more, if it was possible.
"Yah! Don't just stare at me! Say how perfect i was because it took a lot of balls to sing this loud in front of you!" Seokjin whined.
Namjoon let out a breath he didn't know he was holding in. He was in pure shock. Getting himself together, he finally spoke after a few minutes. "Wow, that was beautiful, just... Wow."
Seokjin didn't utter a single word and just stared into Namjoon's eyes, the other doing the same. Just when he thought his heart couldn't beat faster, it was dancing a whole waltzer into it's cage. The tension was built in a second and Namjoon prayed to all gods out there to get him out of this situation.
As if they heard him, the door of Seokjin's bedroom slammed open, revealing a small boy in yellow SpongeBob t-shirt and blue pants standing at the door, holding the doorknob with one hand and a pack of Lays in other.
"Soobin! You can't just barge in like that!" A soft female voice echoed through the hall along with fast clapping of heels against the wooden floor untill a very beautiful woman appeared behind him. She didn't expect to see Seokjin with company so she gasped. "Especially when he has friends over! I'm so sorry! I hope he didn't scare you."
Seokjin facepalmed himself and sighed. Namjoon was both confused and embarrassed at the same time. He didn't know what to say so he smiled at her and the mentioned boy. He assumed it was the brother Seokjin texted about.
"We are working on a school project, eomma. This is Namjoon," Seokjin said, pointing at Namjoon, before he continued. "And this is my mom and the little rat i will dispose as soon as everyone goes to sleep."
Namjoon fought back the urge to laugh. Soobin was staring at Namjoon with curious eyes, probably because Namjoon was wearing a very cute and fluffy purple sweater.
"Is that your boyfriend?" Soobin asked suddenly. Like a thunder crashed over Namjoon, he choked onto literally nothing but got himself together quickly.
"No, Soobin. Get out of here." Seokjin replied.
"Come on, sweetie. Let's make a nice dinner together so Seokjin and his friend can join us later. I'll let you be in charge of the cookies." Soobin suddenly broke into a huge smile and ran out of the room. Mrs. Kim smiled politely and nodded before walking out and closing the door behind her.
Seokjin turned his head and was about to say something but the door opened again. "Sorry again. Would you guys love to drink something? We bought natural strawberry juice." Mrs. Kim's head popped beside the door.
Seokjin shook his head. "You know i don't eat or drink anything strawberry related."
"It's fine, really. I already have my tea." Namjoon said and smiled. She nodded and closed the door again.
After Seokjin apologized for the small interrupt, they continued with their project. They eventually had agreed for Seokjin to be the main vocal of the song, with a bit of Namjoon's voice backing him up. Namjoon was in charge of the melody and the lyrics, promising Seokjin that he will make just the right song for his voice and capability.
An hour later, everything was set up. Namjoon and Seokjin were standing at the front door, saying goodbye to each other before Namjoon had took his route. He felt bad for not joining the dinner but Mr. Kim looked like a bad guy and Namjoon didn't want to be anyone's burden. But Mrs. Kim didn't let him go home without at least bringing a few cookies to his home.
When he got home, he made sure to kiss his mother goodnight and give her the cookies, take a warm shower and go to bed. Tomorrow would be a long day, Namjoon felt.
