Aiden's POV
I was beyond pissed when they told me she couldn't wait on my table anymore. It's been three years since I have been in the same room with her and I hate that they are hiding her from me. I need to control my anger around her though, so I'm letting it slide... for now.
Seeing those vibrant green eyes when I walked in this small diner was the last thing I expected to see. I've been searching for her for years and I just happen to walked into the place she's working at.
She looks as stunning as ever. Maybe more so. Even though she has it pulled back, I can tell her long dark hair has grown al lot. That beautiful blush the shows through her pale skin is just as I remember. I missed making her flush whenever I would compliment her or when I would exchange soft touches that left her flustered.
I've played this scenario in my head over and over again in her absence these past three years. None of them had me stumbling upon her in this way. But now that I've found her I will not let her go. After she left I completely fell apart for a few months.
At first I was hell bent on stopping her before she could leave but when I reached home and there was no trace of her that's when the truth smacked me in the face. Something inside me turned off like a switch. I couldn't function or think clearly anymore.
I stayed locked in our bedroom. I surrounded myself in her possessions she left behind. Anything to bring me some sort of peace and let me slip into the fantasy that she was still here in my arms.
At night I stuffed my face in her pillow inhaling her scent and held her blankets close to me. I did this until they lost her scent completely. That's when the insomnia started. The only way I could get any rest was to drink until I blacked out.
David would come by everyday and try to force me to get some work done or do anything. But I was an empty shell. Without her I was nothing. I didn't need my enterprise, money or anyone else. All I needed was her.
Until one day a resolve came into my mind when David came for his daily pestering.
"Alright this has gone on for too long Aiden." He stares down at me on the floor of our penthouse that's littered in her items and pictures.
Why did I ever take her for granted. She was the best thing to ever happen to me.
"Just leave me." I can't look up at my visitor. Doesn't he understand that its over. Everything. My work. My business...
Isabella.
The thought of her squeezes my heart and there is a physical pain in my chest that makes it hard to breathe.
"Aiden look at me." I refuse to. "Look man, she's gone. Sulking and drinking your pain away isn't going to bring her back." He starts again with same speech he always recites to me.
"You know what though. You could get her back. But you choose to sit on your ass and feel sorry for yourself." This part was new. He never tried to give me hope she would return. "Look at yourself . If I were Isabella I would've left you too. You aren't man enough for her. You're crying hand praying she will run right back into your arms, but look at yourself . Who in their right mind would ever want to be a part of this," He gestures to the mess that's sprawled around me.
His words make me start to seethe with anger. But as I look around I realize he's right. I've given up too easily. I'm better than this. I can be man enough for my Isabella.
I spring to my feet shocking David who takes a few steps back. He probably thinks I'm going to hit him for what he said. "Thank you David."
"You..Uh...You're welcome." He clearly thought his attempt at my redemption was going to be futile again. "I'm coming back to work." Again he's taken aback. I don't have time to explain I need to shower and clean up. I need to change.
