You sprinted outside after Alex, tears now streaming from your eyes too,
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Alex.." You apologised, sitting beside her on the porch steps.
"It's not your fault.." She muttered between tears.
"I know, but still.. I'd understand if you wanted to break up, since we haven't been together super long or anything, and your Grandpa doesn't seem happy about it. I wouldn't want you to ruin your relationship with your family.." You said, putting your arm around her.
"Don't say things like that! I know we haven't been together forever or anything, but I really do like you.. You're probably the first person I've ever actually enjoyed the company of.." She admitted, smiling through her tears.
"T-Thanks.." You kissed her softly, and the two of you soon stopped crying.
"You ready to go back in?" You asked, holding her hand.
"Yeah, I think so, as long as you're by my side." She nodded, and you both stood up.
"I always will be, my love." You responded, grinning.
"Gosh, you're such a dork." She laughed, kissing you on the cheek.
"Yeah, but I'm your dork." You replied, laughing too.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." She mused.
You hadn't realised, since you were so wrapped up in each other's company, but Gloria had seen the two of you talk. She walked back to the kitchen, and over to the crowd of family members discussing what had happened with Jay,
"Aye, Jay! Come here."
"What is it, Gloria?" Jay asked, looking stressed.
She thwacked him lightly around the back of the head, "I know it came as a shock to you, and you're still adjusting to Mitchell being gay, but if you could see how happy that girl clearly makes Alex, you'd realise that they belong together, like us."
"I just- it came as a shock. I've screwed up, just like I did with Mitchell, haven't I?" He asked, sighing sadly.
"I'm sorry to say it Dad, but you kinda have.." Claire said, not caring to sugarcoat it, she preferred to be blunt.
"Yeah, you should go talk to them.." Mitchell muttered.
"I'm sure they'll forgive you Jay, just be honest, I believe you can fix it!" Cam encouraged.
"Right, I will, I-I have to fix this.." Jay said to himself, now determined to make amends.
Just as Jay was about to walk outside to go find the two of you, you returned back inside, hand in hand.
"Oh, hey there girls, your Grandpa Jay wants to talk to you.." Gloria beckoned you forward.
"Oh, okay, go ahead.." Alex gestured for him to talk.
"I have to say, I'm sorry. It was a gut reaction, and I'm still getting used to the whole, gay thing, but I'll try to be better.." Jay spat out his words quickly, but you still understood.
"W-Wow. That is not what I was expecting. Thanks.." Alex smiled, almost crying again, and the two of you and Jay shared a hug.
"You're welcome here anytime, Y/N. I want you to feel like you're part of the family." Jay told you, ruffling your hair up like you were a little kid.
"Thanks Jay, I really appreciate it.." You grinned and thanked him.
"We're gonna talk to Joe later about what he did, don't worry, mi queridas." Gloria reassured you both.
"Ahaha, you've got a great gangsta on your hands, he's good at blackmail!" You joked.
"Definitely!" Jay agreed and chuckled.
"He's just like Jay!" Alex joined in.
"Right, right.. Now, let's get on with the meal!" Jay shouted, walking over to the table, as you all happily followed suit..
