Ch.2 | The Maid Cafe

I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off from over on my nightstand. I reach my hand out towards my nightstand just to turn off my alarm and then head right back to sleep.

I'm supposed to be heading to work today. I have a part-time job at an all-male maid cafe. It's an okay job, for the most part. I get paid a decent amount of money and the staff and customers aren't so bad either.

My alarm goes off exactly 10 minutes later. This time, I let out a groan of irritation, not wanting to get up from out of my bed. But if I'm even just one minute late, my boss will literally scold my ass as soon as I walk through the main entrance.

I grab my phone from off my nightstand, this time, as I turn off my alarm, I notice the time; 6:10 am. Great. I only have less than an hour to head to work. I have to be there exactly at seven o'clock am and if I'm late, I most definitely will get scolded.

I sit up in bed while I begin to stretch as I let out a long-lasting yawn.

Might as well start my day off with a healthy breakfast and then a quick shower.

Dammit.

I'm five minutes late for work.

I'm already driving my way there, but today's traffic is just complete hell. I don't get why traffic is so bad this early in the morning. But-

Let me not jump the gun.

People may just have to get up early in the morning for work just like I have to, so it does makes sense in some sort.

Just then, about three minutes later, I'm receiving a call from Hange, a close acquaintance of mines. "Yeah. What is it?"

"Wait! I should call you back. Aren't you at work right now?"

"Not yet. Traffic is hell. So I got a minute before I make it there. Maybe around," I look at the golden watch that lies on my wrist, "seven twenty? My boss is going to be hella mad once he sees me."

"Oh! Right! That's why I called!"

"What do you mean? Where are you getting at?"

"Your boss recently got fired." What in the-

Fired?

I mean, that's great and all, but I wasn't expecting for him to get fired on the spot like that. Plus, I always thought if my boss ever got fired, I would be one of the first to hear about it.

Either way it goes, I'm not complaining. He was a pain in the ass anyway.

"Oh yeah? What for?"

"Sexually harassing one of the workers. It was on the news. I'm surprised you didn't even know about it." No. I'm more surprised he sexually harrassed one of the workers there at the cafe.

Didn't really seem like that type of guy, but I guess that's why you should never underestimate that weird-ass saying, "never judge a book by its cover."

"So if he's fired, then who is the new boss?"

"Don't know his name. Some tall, buffed blonde-headed guy with the weirdest eyebrows. He kinda looks like your type if you ask me."

"No. I'm not looking for anyone to date if that's where you're headed. Um, look. Traffic is clearing up and I don't need to be on the phone long. I'll call you once I get off work." And just like that I end the call and focus on getting to work on time, even though I'm technically not going to be on time.

Hopefully, this so-called new boss would be ten times better than my last one. Someone who doesn't try to pick a fight with me just because I'm fucking five minutes late for work.

About ten minutes later, I finally make it to work exactly at 7:20.

I rush my way through the back door and not the main entrance since I'm a worker, not a customer. I go to the changing area and change out of my regular clothes and into my working maid outfit attire.

Just as I am about to go out front and serve customers, I accidentally bump into someone. Thankfully, I didn't have any food in my hand.

"Excuse me. Are you okay?" The guy asks me.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine-" I immediately pause what I'm saying just as I get a glimpse of his face.
W-wait. E-Erwin?"

The blonde-headed guy looks surprised at first, considering that I know his name and we only just saw each other for just a few seconds.

But, we've known each other for more than a few seconds.

Because this is my middle school crush.

Erwin looks even more astounded than before, realizing that it's me, Levi from middle school in class a. "Levi?"

No fucking way in hell.
