Eleven Years Later

*Dalinda's Pov*

I am now eleven years old and I got a Hogwarts letter for my birthday. I am very excited but my grandpa seems worried about me going. Knowing him it probably has something to do with my father or maybe that my brother goes to the same school I am going to. I've never met my brother or my father for that matter. Then again it could have something todo with me never being away from him for more than I night when I go over to my friend Naomi's house for sleepovers.  Something tells me that it has more todo with him not liking to be alone.

Flash Back

Nana's funeral was today  Papa hasn't been sleeping well sense she died  I think he is lonely. Nana always said that when she is gone we have to take good care of each other we promised her we would. Papa does take good care of me but I don't know how to take care of him. he won't eat or sleep. When I'm around he pretends to be happy but when he thinks I can't see him he is really sad. I may be only six years old but I'm not  dumb. I needed to fined  away to get him to go to bed and I knew just the thing.  I waited till it was nine o'clock then I crept out of my bed and walked ever so silently  into the living room. There I saw my Grandfather siting in his big arm chair . He looked tiered and sadder than he did at the funeral. "What are you doing out of bed at this hour young lady?" I had been seen, phase one of my plan complete. "I couldn't sleep. could you read me a story?" He smiled at me a little then got up taking my hand  started walking back to my room. "what story should we read tonight  dear heart?"  "I know what book I want to read, here sit down." I said while pushing my Grandfather to set on my bed. Then I ran to my bookshelf   grabbing for Fantastic Beast and Wear to Find Them. I then handed  the book to my Grandfather before climbing on to his lap and pulling the covers around us. Phase two of my plan complete. I knew that if setting on a nice soft bed surrounded by blankets didn't put him to sleep  then maybe reading would and if that failed I would fall asleep on top of him so then he would be forced to set there for a few more minutes while thinking of away to get me off with out waking  me up. "Papa could you read a page to me then I read a page to you?" " I think that would be just fine my dear." After reading every other page to my Grandpa for a few minutes I saw how heavy his eyes wear getting. So when it was my turn again I read two pages instead of just one and by the time I got to the end of the second page Papa was fast asleep. I then turned out the light pulled the covers closer and fell asleep. When I woke in the morning Papa was still sleeping  the sun was up and it looked like it had been up for awhile. I slipped out of my Grandfathers arms and went down to gat breakfast. The house elves already had waffles, sausage and orange juice waiting . When I was done finishing up my plat Papa came down the stairs. "Good morning Papa" "Good morning love... and don't act like your sooo innocent." Lucius said while reaching for a plat of waffles. "What do you mean?" I tried to sound as clueless as possible but I don't think I did very well. "I mean how you tricked me into reading to you last night ." "I didn't trick you into reading to me I just asked and you said yes. But then you fell asleep."  "I see, you will definitely be a Slytherin." "Papa what if I'm? would you be mad if I was something else... like a Ravenclaw or Gryffindor or even worse a Hufflepuff!" At this point my grandfather stopped eating he looked at me smiling then he said "Dear heart I will not be mad at you  for being in something other than Slytherin, there will already be at least one Malfoy in that house and I don't think they could handle two."

Dalinda's Pov

Thinking back now I know that my grandfather will miss me but I don't understand why he seems so worried. I am worried that I won't become a Slytherin. Papa said it is ok if I don't but I think he would be kind of ashamed to know that both the children he raised turned out to be failures. I mean one that abandoned his own daughter and the other a Hufflepuff. Even though Draco and mine's failings wouldn't be Papa's fault I know he would see it that way. "Dalinda, love it's time we head to King's Cross Station or you'll miss the train to school." "Ok coming Papa"

"Alright Dalinda  do you have everything?" "I think so." "Right now remember who you are and what you represent." "I do I am Dalinda Astoria Malfoy, as such I shall present myself with honor and dignity." "Very good, I will miss you dear heart... you will be coming home for Christmas though and don't forget to write." With this being said Lucius bent down and hugged me tight. "I'll miss you too." The train whistle sounded and students climbed aboard. Giving Lucius one last hug I grabbed my trunk and walked to the nearest train cart.
