Madhurashtakam (मधुराष्टकम्) or the Octet on Sweetness is a very beautiful and poetic octet describing the eternal beauty of Krishna and the sceneries associated with Krishna as a cowherd keeper. It was written by Shreemad Vallabha Acharya who has also authored many other books in Sanskrit such as "Anubhasya-A commentatory on Brahma Sutra", "Shodash Granth", "Subodhini", etc. It follows a strict order of 16 long syllables in each line. The hymn provides beautiful imagery associated with Krishna as he plays his flute and the cows are grazing in the field. The hymn, written in praise of the beauty of Krishna, draws the reader towards "देवरति" or love towards the main deity.
