Author's note: The characters of this story are all mainly J.K Rowling. I only came up with a couple. This story may be really bad sorry if it is I'm just really obsessed with Harry Potter that I had to write a fanfic.
---------------------------------------------
Nine years had past since that night. The night my parents died. I remembered it as though it was yesterday, it often haunted my dreams. All I remembered is screaming and a flash of green light as my parents were killed. I was only one at the time, so I don't really remember much. What I do know is that I have a brother. Years have past, and the name still does not come to mind, but I do remember the face, with his dark brown hair and green eyes. I never got to really meet my brother because shortly after my parents death this "tall giant" came and took him from his crib, but I hope wherever he is now he is okay. Now I lived in Bulgaria, with my father, Igor and my mother, Domitre. My father worked as a headmaster at Durmstrang, my new school that fall. It was an all boy school, so my father was hesitant to let me go, but after many fake tears, he finally agreed to let me go. My Mother worked at Mattie's magical bra emporium, where their motto is, "It's not against the law to get a bra, support yourself, be free." Oh the horror, imagine little five year old me going into my parents bedroom to see my parents trying to fit a bra on my dad's moobs.
School started tomorrow, September first, so today I spent the day on the train to Durmstrang. I hoped I could make friends. The only problem is what happened to me when I was younger. I was afraid that if anyone finds out, they wouldn't want to be friends with me. I didn't have much choice then, because I couldn't go through school without having at least one friend. I might as well get to know people before I tell them about me.
"Hello, is this seat taken? All of the other compartments are full." This third year boy asked while looking at me pleadingly.
"What? Oh! No, there is no one sitting there." I responded slowly, still thinking about making friends.
"Okay, thanks!" He exclaimed while he took the seat across from me. "What is your name?" He asked while he look up hopefully.
"W-what? M-me? My name is Evelina Marie Karkaroff. You can call me Eve. I hate the name Evelina, it sounds weird. What's your name?" I stuttered, a little taken aback that someone was actually talking to me.
"My name is Viktor, Viktor Krum." He replied while he held out his hand for me to shake.
I shook his hand briefly, but not before my father walked by the compartment and saw us.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!" He yelled sternly, yanking our hands apart.
"Nothing, sir. Nothing at all. I was just introducing myself to your daughter." Krum stammered as he looked down at his feet.
"Dad, calm down. I was just shaking his hand." I pleaded gazing up into his eyes.
"Okay. But keep your hands away from my daughter or I swear I will kick you out of Durmstrang before you can even get sorted." My dad replied pointedly.
"Yes sir. As you wish. I will not touch her again. But do I have your permission to be her friend?" Victor asked inquiringly.
"You may be my daughter's friend. On one condition, you must never ever break her heart. It is a fragile and delicate thing and I do not want her coming home to me upset about something you did." Dad said while he walked out of the room and shut the door behind him.
"Wait daddy!" I yelled opening the door again.
"What is it sweetheart?" He asked, walking back to the compartment.
"Dad, I'm scared. What happens if I don't get into Gryffinclaw?" I cried while tears started filling into my eyes.
"Sweetheart you will get into Gryffinclaw and if not then Slytherpuff will have gained an excellent student. Remember honey, it doesn't matter what house you're in, as long as you are happy." Dad responded, taking his hand and wiping the tears away from my eyes.
"Okay, but I really want to get into Gryffinclaw. It's only fair. You and mom both were in Gryffinclaw." I commented, more to myself than to him.
"Then sweety, you will get into Gryffinclaw. Don't worry about it, I'm sure you going to do fine." He said while he kissed my head and walked out the door again.
The rest of the ride to Durmstrang was quiet, until ten minutes before we got there and I had to ask Victor to leave, so I could change into my robes.
We arrived in the Great Hall soaking wet from the rain and in a state of nervousness. I glanced to the front of the hall where my dad was sitting. He gave me a small smile and a thumbs up and then turned back to the conversation he was having with the teacher next to him.
From the side of the hall someone walked in. They took a stool and placed a hat on it. It looked old and wrinkled, but when it spoke it had a clear, decisive voice so that everyone could hear.
"Welcome to Durmstrang, where only boys are welcome. We have our two houses, Gryffinclaw, where dwell the brave at heart and those with wit and their intelligence is surest, or Slytherpuff, where those with the purest of blood and those who have been outcasted by the other house have joined together. There is nothing hidden in your head that The Sorting Hat can see. So try me on, don't be afraid, you are in safe hands (though I have none) for I am just a thinking cap!" The Sorting Hat sang.
When it ended most people in the room clapped while others just stood there looking shocked. Sweat gleamed across my forehead as they started calling names up to sit on the stool.
"Dimitrov, Ivan!" The teacher called and the little boy that stood in front of me walked slowly and put the hat on.
"Gryffinclaw!" The hat shouted. The right side of the hall exploded as Ivan ran over to join them.
"Ivanov, Anton!" The teacher called. The boy behind me walked up, but not before he shoved into my shoulder. He looked at me and smirked, and then he put on The Sorting Hat.
"Slytherpuff!" The hat yelled. Anton stalked off to the left side of the room sat down.
The teacher walked up, she looked down at the list and she said, "Hristrov, Vladimir"
He slipped the hat on to his head. He sat up there for a good minute or two before the hat finally shouted, "Gryffinclaw!"
I cheered as he walked off the stage. He glanced back at me and smiled. After him a couple other people went up. There was kid named Georgi Petrov. He was placed into Gryffinclaw. Finally, the teacher looked at the bottom of the list and said "Karkaroff, Evelina!"
Everyone got quiet as I slowly walked up to hat. Some people shouted cat calls like "That's not fair. No girls are allowed in this school!" or "She's gonna get special treatment she's the headmaster's daughter." Finally, my dad stood up and everyone got quiet.
"Listen up everybody! My daughter will not be receiving any special treatment. Myself and the teachers will treat her like a regular student, and I assure you that my daughter is probably more manly than most of you in this room!" My dad bellowed. Everyone looked dumbfounded, so I just shoved the hat over my head, and it fell over my eyes and stopped at my nose.
"Mmm. First girl ever in Durmstrang. I wonder how this is going to end. You have many secrets. You might want to keep that bracelet on or someone might find out. Mmm, hard to decide. Your blood is pure, but you have intelligence and bravery." The hat spoke in to my ears.
"Not Slytherpuff, not Slytherpuff." I whispered to the the hat.
"Not Slytherpuff, ayeeee? Better be Gryffinclaw!" The hat shouted as I pulled it off and walked over to the cheering Gryffinclaws on the right side of the hall and sat down next to Viktor.
