Ashlynn woke up in the hospital, confused.
She didn't see her parents and it took her a second to realize what had happened.
As soon as she remembered the explosion and her parents death, she started crying.
A nurse heard her and immediately rushed to her side.
"Shh, shh, it's okay. You're safe. You're safe." The nurse repeated these words, letting little Ashlynn cry into her shirt.
A few minutes later she stopped crying.
"T-thank you." Ashlynn sniffled.
"Of course honey." Seeing the confused look on Ashlynn's face, she elaborated on the situation. "Ashlynn, sweetheart, look at me." Ashlynn looks up to the nurse.
"You are in a hospital right now. You have been unconscious for a few days. You have already been re-adopted by a husband and wife with a few kids of their own. The will be here to pick you up shortly." The nurse paused giving Ashlynn a second to process it.
"Oh, and we found this in your hands when you went unconscious." The nurse holds up the ladybug necklace.
"Thank you."
Two hours later
A man and a woman with a little boy and a little girl walked into the hospital room with the nurse from earlier.
The little girl was being held by the woman and the little boy was holding the hand of the man.
"Ashlynn, these are the people who adopted you."
"Hello Ashlynn. My name is Clint Barton. This is my wife, Laura, and our two kids, Cooper and Lila. We want to make you feel as comfortable as possible. We heard what happened and we are so sorry. Do you think you'll be okay living with us?"
Ashlynn nods.
"Well, Ashlynn, you will be clear to leave as soon as you feel like you are ready. Are you ready to leave and go with Clint and Laura?
Ashlynn nods, this time with a huge smile on her face.
She was so happy that she had a place to live, and even better, siblings, which meant friends that weren't animals.
She was so happy that she almost forgot about what happened in Sokovia.
Almost.
A/N: I did the math and in this at this point in time, it is eight years before Age of Ultron. In Endgame Cooper is 19 and Lila is 16. This part takes place seven years before Age of Ultron. So, all together, that is 15 years. Which means, that in this part of my story Cooper is four and Lila is one. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
