True Family: Chapter 5

"So are you guys talking to each other again? Like, you're all cool?" Martin asked

"Yup" I replied, smiling like a crazy person.

"You seem really happy about it." Mavis stated.

"Well, of course I am!" I replied.

"Well good for you! At last they got over themselves." Mavis said.

I frowned "Mavis, it wasn't their fault. It was mine."

Martin rolled his eyes. "Oh please, I say you're better off without them."

"What's wrong with you guys!?" I demanded, angry that they were saying this about my family.

Mavis put her hands up in an I surrender gesture. "Chill Jacky."

I shook my head. "No, you chill." I got up and left.

I walked around and found Tony and Tory sitting with Lisa and Linda.

I approached them. "Mind if I join?"

They all looked at me, a little shocked. Then Lisa replied. "Sure."

I sat down between Tory and Tony. "So guys, want to play soccer?"

They looked at each other and smiled. "Let's play." Tony said.

"I'll get everyone. You guys get a good spot to play." Linda said, getting up.

We found a perfect spot and I went to Tonys locker to get the ball. It was always in his locker and we all knew each others locker combinations.

I came back and found everyone except Joey.

"Where's Joey?" I asked.

Linda shrugged. "He seemed in a bad mood this past few days. I didn't want to ask him and neither did anyone else."

"I'll ask him." I said.

Tracey chuckled. "Sorry dude, but you're probably the last person he would want to talk to right now."

I frowned. "I'll still try." I walked over to Joey who was sitting with his friends.

"Hey Joey, want to play soccer?" I asked.

He looked at me and glared. "Go away, dork. I don't want to spend my time with a low life." he replied.

Ok, jerk alert. I took a deep breath.

"Please. It won't be fun without you." I said, swallowing my pride.

He snickered. "You sound like a baby. Go fall off a cliff and see if I care." he replied.

I stood there, shocked. Ok that hurt a little.

"You don't have to be such a jerk." I said furiously.

His smirk flattered but then one of his friend spoke.

"He is such a dork. I feel bad for you man." his friend laughed.

Then another one spoke. "Can't believe you live with him. I'd be embarrassed."

I felt my face flush. I was about to walk away when Joey spoke.

"At least he's not a wannabe."

His friends looked at him, shocked. "Chill dude." One of them said.

"No you chill. Just because you have no life and spend half your time wasting your life, doesn't mean you can insult my little brother."

"You insulted him too!"
