"I'm sending you to stop the Maple from decimating the forest." The strong amber eyes stared through Rising Sun and Lion Mane. The eight ancient cats sat in a circle, six of them, more or less, facing the other two. The plane that they occupied was barron, apart from the small circle of grass that made up the clearing. The cats were in a place where the other clan cats could not disturb them. Rising Sun's eyes shifted from cat to cat. It had been so long since she had lived, she wondered what it was going to be like.

"How will we know when we have stopped it?" Lion Mane asked, his golden tabby pelt glistening with stars. The was looked passed between the other six cats before a lithe black she-cat stepped forward, her dark green eyes gleaming.

"Neither of you will return until the job is done."

One...

"This is what you call support? I love Appledusk, why can't you just be happy for me?!" Mapleshade hissed at her ginger tabby sister. Blue eyes blazed into amber as the younger of the two spat. The leaves rustled with the cold leaf-bare wind, even the prey was silent as the two cats stared at each other.

"I'm trying to help you, you'll only have a life full of heartache if you keep pursuing this mousebrained relationship!" spat the tabby she-cat. Mapleshade hissed louder as she launched at her younger sister. The two tussled along the forest floor, tooth and claw flying. There was no way either was coming out unscathed. The snow crunched beneath them as their bodies impacted the ground. Sunshade could feel the cuts and bites her sister was inflicking but fought on.

Suddenly there was a hiss as they pulled apart, the red drops of blood scattered across the ground. The two were panting as the younger ginger was hissing in pain. Mapleshade turned to face her sister with a look of rage before it melted away into a look of worry.

"Sunshade?" She asked tentatively. Sunshade was facing away from the tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat, her face tilted down towards the ground. Mapleshade observed her a bit longer, noticing the pool of blood gathering at Sunshade's paws.

"Sunshade!" She began to pad over in worry only to freeze as Sunshade turned an icy glare on her. Mapleshade's blood turned cold and her eyes widened as her gaze traveled over her sister's face. From her ear to muzzle ran claw scratches, scratches that Mapleshade had inflicted. There was blood dripping down Sunshade's muzzle, and her eye that the scratch ran over was closed, Mapleshade wasn't sure if she was blinded or if it was because of the blood.

"If this is what I get for trying to help. Fine, ruin your life. I'm done." Sunshade turned tail and ran. Her eyes stung with unshed tears as she leaped over branches. She got close to hitting a few trees but managed to dodge them in the last second, not without scraping her side though.

At some point, she stopped in her running, her vision was beginning to get dizzy with blood loss. Sunshade knew she should head back to camp but her vision was starting to swim. She stumbled through the undergrowth, unsure and unaware of where she was. The ground turned hard beneath her paws and all she heard was a screech. There was a jolt of pain before everything went black.

Two...

"Swim faster! Something's coming!" Sunkit could barely hear the voice of her sister, Petalkit, over the roaring of the river. She should have never stepped foot in the flooded river, she knew it was a bad idea but something pushed her to continue on. She wasn't sure if it was Mapleshade's words or if it was an unknown force, similar to the one that brought her into this life.

She sputtered as her head broke the surface again. Her little paws were kicking, trying to catch something to help her get out. Her head was beginning to swim as water kept getting into her lungs. She knew she wasn't going to make it out of this but she couldn't help but try. Her paws slowly started to tire out, she didn't have enough energy to keep her above the rapids. She takes one final breath before being forced back under the water.
