Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1

Marinette groaned as the alarm clock woke her up. Looking at it, she panicked, she only had 15 minutes until the school started!! It was the first day of school and she was going to be late! Quickly getting up, she ran to her closet picking an outfit.

She had changed a lot from the 13 year old she was when she got her miraculous. Currently 16, her school life was not the same as then. In fact, it was getting harder for her to keep up with the workload as she had so many responsibilities. She had noticed that recently she was spending very little time with her friends. Although it saddened her and she tried to spend more time around her classmates, Lila had gained their trust, worming her way into the group.

Alya had stopped calling her almost everyday, their talks dwindling to almost none. That didn't mean they never talked. Just that they had grown distant. The same could be said for all her classmates except Adrien and, surprisingly, Chloe. The blond had been distant after the Miracle Queen incident about 2 years ago. What had shocked her though was that the blond had later apologised to her after pulling her into an empty classroom.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Marinette quickly put on her clothes, tidied herself up and ran down, hurriedly greeting her parents before dashing out the door and running to school.

Francoise Dupont had not changed much, though her memories in it had changed a lot. Gone were the memories of working on her sketches in the art room and trying to confess to Adrien, she still had a crush on him, don't get her wrong, but it was not so bad that she couldn't form sentences and foamed at the mouth around him. She could talk to him without much stuttering, though sometimes she did mix up her words.

Bursting into the classroom, flushing as everyone stared at her, Marinette walked to the back of the classroom and sat, taking out her sketchbook to modify some of her rough drafts for her commissions. She had sat at the back since college and now at Lycee, hadn't seen any need to change it.

Thankfully, there were still a few more minutes until the bell rang, and from past experiences, she knew that Miss Bustier would take a few more minutes more to collect her things and enter the classroom. The Akuma Prevention meeting the teacher's had every year always went on until the last possible moment. All the class presidents had to attend it along with the class teachers. Marinette had attended it when in college but as they entered lycee, Lila had taken up the position. Although she did not do much, her classmates were not inclined to remove Lila from the position, content to just listen to her stories.

Assuming Lila was in the meeting, Marinette continued editing her designs for a few moments.

"Marinette!!!"

Looking up as she heard her name being said, she saw that it was Chloe, who was, as usual, wearing designer clothes. Beside her was Adrien, who was grinning at her.

"Hey guys!" she said, smiling at her friends.

She hadn't seen them recently as Chloe had been visiting her mother and Adrien had to attend a gala in America. They had both been gone for two weeks and had come back to Paris the previous day.

"Hello Mari! Have you heard about Lie-la's new lie? It was ridiculous! Utterly Ridiculous!", was Chloe's greeting. Chloe had surprisingly figured out Lila's lies, although it shouldn't be as surprising since Chloe knew some of the people Lila lied about, considering she was the mayor's daughter AND the daughter of Style Queen, both very public figures.

Any chit-chat was cut out after that as the bell rang and Miss. Bustier and Lila entered the class. Although Lila didn't look too pleased.

Miss. Bustier clapped her hands and smiled brightly at them.

"Ok students, get in your seats. We're hosting two students from Greenville Highschool for Gifted Children!"
