So, pretty much what my idea was, was that there was a darkness illness spreading through the air and those that don't have a gas mask, would get infected and would turn into some sort heartless monster thing or in soras case, become evil and try and hurt the others.
The only way they could get better is by the light. Depending how much light they have could show how much of a chance they have at taking care of the virus.
