Five: Konekochi

I'm forced to rise from my bed at an ungodly hour by my phone ringing. There is only one person I know that would call me at this hour, and that's due to a total disregard for the time differences.

I reach onto my bedside table and seize the ringing device and pressing the 'ACCEPT' button. Nate is dead, I swear to god.

"Nate." I huff. "If that's you, I swear to god, I'll kick your ass."

"Harsh, Konekochi!" I flinch. His perky voice is painful to my drowsy aura.

"Kise...it's five thirty in the morning." I grumble, falling face down onto a pillow.

"I know! But I just realised that I can help you learn to shoot long distance!" Kise chirps.

"I will punch you if you've woken me up because you've found a strategy." I growl.

"Strategy? Only one to get you to the master, Konekochi. I've worked out how to convince Midorimachi to teach you." I sit bolt upright.

"But he said no!" I gasp.

"Yes he did, Konekochi. But as far as I know, he's yet to see you in action!"

"Where's your volume control switch." I huff.

"Why does everybody ask that when I call?" I can HEAR the pout in the young model's voice!

"Maybe because you call at five thirty in the morning." I suggest.

"Someone's waking up." My friend teases.

"Well...Since it's a Sunday, I'll be considerate enough to get my morning coffee...and NOT throw it at you, Kise." I shrug, heading downstairs to fix myself a mug of coffee.

"Good! You'll need the energy, Konekochi! I'm going to be at your place in less than an hour."

"Less than an HOUR!" I gasp.

"We have to beat Midorimachi to his training spot!" The blonde declares.

"Fine. Fine. Be lucky that I showered last night." I grumble, pouring the drink. I bring it to the dining room table and stir, phone on speaker.

"Konekochi ~! Don't say that! That's weird!" Kise whines. I sigh. Everybody showers for goodness sake. That response is actually weird. Nate would always ask if he could join me next time. I shudder. Now THAT was weird. Nonetheless, I ought to apologise for making my friend uncomfortable.

"Right. Sorry. Kise, you really think I can get help from Midorima-kun?" I ask.

"I do." He enthuses through the phone. "My plan is to shock him. So when he comes in, do one of the moves that only the Golden Bullet of the US can do." My jaw drops.

"W-where did you hear that title?" I stammer, caught of guard. I think I've got every right to be alarmed for that was my street title but the 'of the US' was added after I competed in mixed gendered leagues with Nate and our street team, and sparked attention from people on YouTube. The 'of the US' made it easier to identify me online.

"I searched you up. I've never seen you play like that here." Kise muses.

"Kise, I have to get ready. So I'm going upstairs. Shhhh!" I whisper down the line before bringing my phone and coffee upstairs so I can get ready for my first meeting with the 'Midorimachi' that Kise knows and admires. He's surely going to be more friendly if he's in the company of his friend, right?

Once I'm sat at the vanity table, I start taming my bed head and then brush any knots out of my hair extensions. I really need to get some new ones. But how...?
