A surprising future//Bal

Chapter 7

MAL
Audrey had been sending me messages all day. Evie, Uma, Carlos, Jay, Ben, Gil, Harry and I headed to fairy cottage, hoping to catch Audrey. Unfortunately, we only found Chad in a closet, freaked out while rocking back and forth.

We left him there, not caring. As we left, I stopped. Ben knew what I was going to say, so he walked over to me, his hand going around my waist.

"Guys. Ben and I...this wasn't our idea, but his parents suggested that we close the barrier to protect Auradon." Mal spoke.

"No. You told them no!" Uma begged.

"I did at first, but then I thought about it. It's what's best for Auradon." I admitted.

"You promised me Mal! You promised that you'd bring down the barrier!" Uma angrily responded.

"I'm sorry Uma...I-" Uma stopped me.

"So we're saving your precious people, and your behinds, for a lie? I knew it was a mistake to trust you. You're always out for yourself. And you, King Benny. You're probably just gonna throw us all back inside, eh? You know what? I actually thought you were brave, but you're nothing but a chicken." Uma basically spat in my face. She left with Harry and Gil.

"Evie. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry, I just...I thought that...I was afraid to tell you, I thought that I was gonna lose my best friend." I was on the brink of tears.

"What about the kids that we left behind on that island?! The kids that we promised. We were their only hope. I thought you were gonna stand up for the VKs. But instead you lied to them. And you lied to Jay. And you lied to Carlos. You lied to me. We're your family." Evie left with Carlos and Jay who gave me a disappointed look.

I vomited, Ben immediately helping me. He took me back to my room before letting me sleep.

I woke up to the wind blowing through the room. I had a good sleep, dreaming about, my future with Ben. I got up, a chill running down my spine as I looked over at my door, seeing a note.

I have your precious little VK.
If you want her back, you know where to find me!
-Audrey.

It's official. Audrey wants to fight. Getting dressed, I needed to go. I needed to stop Audrey. I headed for the spot where Audrey and I first met. I couldn't risk anyone following me. I was desperately hoping to not be sick as I ran. Getting to Audrey, I could see Celia panic as she tried to get out of Audrey's grip.

"Don't even bother!" I could tell that Audrey's grip on Celia was tight.

"Let her go Audrey! She didn't do anything to you!" I demanded, knowing full well that Audrey wouldn't listen.

"You took Ben from me, and now, I'm taking this little VK from you!" Audrey laughed as thunder roared around us.

"This is a fight between you and me. She doesn't deserve this!" I nearly started crying.

"All villains deserve to be punished!" Audrey spoke.

"Doesn't that mean that you deserve to be punished? I mean, you're acting like a villain." I could see the anger in Audrey's eyes.

"Ugh!" Audrey clearly had enough of me, causing her to aim. I luckily got out of the way before her blast hit me.

"You Mal, are a villain. You always have been, and you always will be. Nothing will ever change that. No person can ever change that. And that baby your carrying, will be just as evil as you..." Audrey's eyes went cold before she gripped the sceptre tighter in her left hand.

"This isn't you Audrey..." I wouldn't let her win. She blasted me before the real fight began.

BEN
I wanted to spend time with Mal, since I haven't had much luck with that factor lately. Walking through the palace, I finally reached her room. I opened it, surprised when I saw that Mal was nowhere to be seen.

"Mal?" I asked as I searched the room. Finding a note, I read it.

"Audrey kidnapped Celia!" I panicked, rushing out of the room as I went to find Uma and Harry.

"Ben? What's wrong?" Uma asked.

"Audrey took Celia and is demanding a fight. Mal's already gone to try and stop her." As soon as I told her, we made our way there. By the time Uma, Harry and I got to Mal, she had already transformed and started fighting Audrey. I prayed that the baby was ok.

"MAL!" I yelled, hoping she would hear me and luckily she did.

I gave her a loving look before she avoided another shot by Audrey.

MAL
"Help me, Mal!" Celia screamed as Audrey held the sceptre to her face.

Energy from my heart blasted through my body, my mind worried about the baby I was carrying. Without any warning, my eyes turned green and a purple smoke enveloped me, turning me into a dragon while I tried desperately to avoid the shots that Audrey was aiming at me.

"Yeah! Save your little friend! Careful not to fry your little VK buddy." Audrey laughed.

"She doesn't stand a chance without the ember!" I looked down to see Uma and Harry below me.

"Hold still, you little brat!" Celia began fighting against Audrey until Audrey knocked her down.

"We're stronger together. Stronger together. I'm right here, Mal. Regain your might and ignite." Uma began as she held the golden shell in her hand.

"I'm right here, girl, I'm right here. Regain your might and ignite!" Uma repeated.

"Come on, Mal! Get her, Mal! You got this, girl!" I struck Audrey one final time before I watched her fall down, the crown and sceptre resting besides her limp body.

I transformed back into my human self on the tower, hoping my baby was ok as I held my stomach protectively.

"Oh, Celia. It's okay. I've got you." I gave her a hug. Her concern went to my baby.

"Is he or she ok?" She asked.

"I think so..." I replied, not sure.

"Audrey?" I asked as I touched Audrey's pale skin. Her eyes didn't open. "Oh no." I began to panic when Audrey didn't respond.

"Uma! Harry! Ben! Help me!" I yelled down to them as I tried to wake up Audrey. Within a few minutes, Ben, Uma and Harry had come up to the top, Harry picking up Audrey's limp body. We took her back to her room, resting her in her bed.
