MAL
"Florian! What did I day about using your magic without a parent around?" I asked as a small boy lifted his head."No parents, no magic." He knew the rule off by heart.
"If I catch you using magic without me or your father again, you'll be staying with your grandma Maleficent." He ran away, understanding the consequences.
"Such a messy room." I giggled.
"Beware, foreswear, erase the mess in which I stare." I swished my pointer finger and within a few seconds, a green light shone brightly as the room became clean.
"Hey babe." Ben spoke as he wrapped his hands around my waist.
"Hey my King..." I smiled.
"Is Florian ok? He just asked if he could play with some magic." Ben seemed worried.
"I caught him using magic without you or me around." I admitted.
"Mal...you could be a little-" Ben began his sentence before Evie rushed in.
"-Uh Mal, you might wanna head to the Tourney Field." Evie left just as quickly as she came in.
Ben and I rushed, following Evie. I saw Florian fighting with Zevon.
"Give it back! We're not supposed to have it!" I heard Florian argue as I saw what he was hoping to get back.
"Boys! What's-" I saw what was in Zevon's hand. I grabbed it, sitting the boys down.
"How did you two get this?" I asked, showing them the spell book I once used on Ben.
"Zevon stole it from the museum!" Florian was quick to blame, but I knew he wasn't lying.
"Zevon...you know you shouldn't have this! This is a dangerous object alongside Maleficent's sceptre and Hades' ember! There was a reason why it was locked in the bottom level of the museum!" I became upset, Ben pulling me aside before he went and talked to Zevon. I took Florian back to the palace.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I asked, Florian wanting desperately to reveal everything.
"He forced me not to. He said that he'd turn me into a toad if I mentioned it to you or dad." Florian seemed upset and nervous.
"Next time, fight back using your smart brain and come and tell me. I can't help you if I don't know what's going on." I could see his handsome smile creeping back onto his face.
"And, since you tried to peacefully get the book from him, I will allow you to try one...and I mean one, small spell from the book. I will choose the spell I think you'll be able to handle." I smiled as he jumped with joy.
Picking a spell I had once used, I handed him the book, pointing to it.
"Oh, ok!" Florian prepared.
"Now, I'm going to lock this door, and without breaking it, I want you to open it using the spell and your pointer finger." I hoped he'd have at least some of my magic in his heart. I closed and locked the door, nervous.
"Make it easy, make it quick. Open up without a kick." I saw a blue light shine before the door seamlessly opened, nothing breaking.
"Mom! I did it!" His joy radiated.
"I'm so proud of you!" I hugged him.
"Florian? What's going on?" Ben asked, confused.
"Florian just performed his first safe spell!" I exclaimed, Ben's eyes lighting up with joy.
"Which spell?" Ben asked, Florian looking at the locked glass door.
"Make it easy, make it quick. Open up without a kick." Florian repeated the spell, impressing Ben even more when the door opened, unbroken.
Florian became excited. "That's enough magic for one day Florian. Now, go grab your homework from English." He hates homework, but he loved the rewards I would give him.
Ben gave me a smile as he wrapped his hand around my waist.
"So? Are you gonna start teaching him how to use the spells in the book, for good?" Ben seemed curious.
"Spells, yes. From the book, no. It doesn't matter how old or young someone is, that book is dangerous and will go back to its place in the museum and it will remain there for the rest of time." I held the book tightly in my arms as Ben nodded sweetly.
