I just realized that in legit every chapter todoroki's phone rings I need to find something else lmao
School had ended for the day, and Todoroki was walking back. He had told himself that he was going to visit his mom on Sunday, but had forgotten about it.
"Shit." He whispered to himself. He'll go next week. Yeah. He will. Without any particular destination, todoroki let his feet take him wherever. Laying eyes on his surroundings, he realized that he was at a park that he had seldom visited in his childhood.
Although he had visited this place very little, he had quite the range of memories. Todoroki vaguely remembered trying to play with a child back then. He was maybe 6, or 7? He didn't know. Of course endeavour had seen to that.
Endeavor
The name rolled of his tounge so easily, yet he hated it. He hated the old man. But after all he had done, Todoroki still felt remorse for him. Every time they got in an argument, it would always end in endeavour victimizing himself. Todoroki knew that enji was absolutely not the victim in this situation, but he couldn't help wanting to give the man another chance. He knew how this ended. It was like a drill. They would argue, endeavour would victimize himself, and Todoroki would apologize and give the man another chance for this only to happen again.
Lost in thought, todoroki didn't notice a familiar voice calling out to him.
"Todoroki? Hey! Todoroki!"
He looked up, to see fuyumi smiling at him from the other side of the playground.
"Oh, hey." he muttered. "Didn't see you there."
"C'mon! Your making me sound short." She whined.
"Well, I mean-" Todoroki laughed but he was cut off by a slap to his face.
"Ow! What was that for?!" He yelped, holding his cheek.
"You know full well I don't like it when unimportant little rats like yourself make fun of my height." Fuyumi glared.
"Fine." Todoroki grumbled. "Why are you here anyway?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Just brings back so many memories." She sighed.
After a awkward moment of silence, Todoroki spoke.
"While we're on the topic of shitty family members, I want to see mom." He stated.
Fuyumi looked at him and smiled widely. "Ive been waiting for you to say that! Of course! We can go on the weekend if you want?"
Todoroki thought for a moment. Going on Sunday meant not attending to his hang outs with Jirou, Mina, Momo ect, which he didn't particularly want to sacrifice, seeing as they were about the only thing keeping him sane at the moment. Todoroki was also keen to see Bakugo once more, though he didn't even know if the angry blonde wanted to see him again. Maybe he could go early in the morning on Sunday. That way he wouldn't have to risk missing his meet ups. Yeah. That made sense.
But could he wake up that early? Of course he could.
What would he take her? Surely flowers wouldn't suffice for 11 years of refusing to see her?
Would endeavour even let him? Probably not, but Todoroki had never really been one for following rules. He was certain that if he had followed his fathers rules, he would be a emotionless robot with no social life. Even so, Todoroki was often told that he didn't give appropriate reactions to things, or that he maybe didn't feel emotions as much as everybody else.
Todoroki didn't doubt the fact that he did infact feel emotions (or at least he hoped so), but it just didn't show on his face.
As he sat there, thinking, Fuyumi seemingly picked up his train of thought.
"Shoto. You have hardly ever gone by fathers rules. You'll be okay. Besides, how would he find out anyway? "She giggled.
"Well, message me when you want to visit her. I should be off. I have like 30 papers to mark." Fuyumi groaned.
"Okay. Bye." Todoroki smiled. "Message me when you get home so I know your safe—
—actually, never mind. I'm coming with you. I'll step on the men for you. " He said, standing up.
"You think I can't take care of myself?" She scoffed.
"No, I'm not underestimating your stepping on the patriarchy skills, just wanna come along. Is it such a crime to want to spend some time with my dear sister? " Todoroki smirked.
"I suppose not." Fuyumi groaned. "Fine. You can come with."
...
The walk back was actually fairly enjoyable. For some reason Todoroki found it satisfying to joke about his trauma, something that made other people uncomfortable, which is why it was fun to talk to Fuyumi.
"Fuyumi?" Todoroki glanced at her.
"Yeah?"
"Why can't you come home more." He grumbled. "It gets really lonely sometimes."
She sighed. "You know I can't, Shoto. Father doesn't like it when I'm around."
"He never comes home anyway." After a second; "Actually, never mind. That was selfish, sorry." He added hastily.
"Well, kind of. Why don't you move into the dorms?" Fuyumi asked, concern edged on her face.
"Isn't it too late? I didn't move in when everybody else did." He stated. (Pretend he didn't aight besties)
"I don't think so. You should ask Nezu." She said. "Ciao!" Fuyumi smiled as she shut her door.
Shoto grinned. He would ask aizawa tomorrow. Why hadn't he thought of moving into tho dorms? Oh right. Endeavour was pissed at him at the time. Oh well, Todoroki thought that it would be a nice change in environment, definetly less lonely. Although, he doubted that fuyumi's reason for not visiting was Endeavour being there. The man barely visited his son at all. Maybe it was because the house awoke unwelcome memories. He didn't know.
On his way back Todoroki stopped by the convinience store to get some instant ramen. While he was there he laid eyes on a magazine, titled;
Number one hero, endeavour, has made headlines by saving the Ministers personal lawyer.
Please. He scoffed. "Who actually gives a flying fuck about the ministers personal lawyer? Not me for sure. Leave the man alone for God's sake." He thought. Maybe it was worth it to become a hero, the only sole purpose being destroying Endeavours career. Yeah. He liked that.
